ANDY CRANFORD – 2013-2024 – This is Andy. You brought him to me 6 years ago right when I really needed him,. He was the greatest dog I ever had and truly a gift of all gifts. Today after two years of treatment for Lymphoma he went to heaven and is running and playing with all our other dog friends. I want to thank you for all the work you do and for for putting us together. We rescued each other! Always in my heart!

ANDY MORRISSEY – 2015- 2023 – From the moment I first saw Andy, it was love at first sight.the day he came into our house, he acted as if he’d always lived here. There was no stressful adjustment for him. He must have known that he had found his forever home. He loved everyone and he made friends wherever we went. Many said he should be a comfort dog. He was a natural at it. On our walks, everyone know Andy’s name, but not mine. That was how it should be because he was the shining star. He is much missed.

ARROW BRANSON – 4/2020 – Arrow’s life was far too short but he Knew how much he was loved. He was a puppy at heart but also a very quick learner. He loved to play with River. His favorite thing to do was chasing butterflies and leaves being blown by the wind. The image that is burned in my mind is one of our last outings when he ran through the tall grass snapping his jaws at the tall grass and the butterflies. That is what I picture him doing in heaven now without all the limitations and ailments he had on Earth. He was the sweetest boy and he will be missed. Arrow made an impact. He left my family different than he found us. He will be forever missed by all of us. Until me meet again sweet boy.

BILLY ADAMS- 01/2010-11/16/2020 – Billy was a free spirit who loved to entertain you with his clown like behavior. He loved to watch the birds for hours and when tired could be found wherever the sun was shining in through the window ,quietly napping . Most of all he loved being with his people.

Thanks to international rescue he made it through and was able to eventually come to US, where Brody and another Greek boy named Dylan became part of our family. Brody was such a gentile soul……perhaps what we sometimes call an old soul. One look in his eyes you would know unconditional love. His life was far too short but he made a huge difference in our lives. Brody we love you with all our being and know that we will be together again……see you on the other side.

-
-
BYRON TIMMONS – 2/20/21 – My miracle boy Byron, had an incredible zest for life, and was my constant companion for 13 years. Byron came up north from Georgia after I lost my A&B Bailey to cancer. He was a crazy boy, a champion jumper and always happy. Byron was an A&B ambassador at rescue events, and my world revolved around him. He was paralyzed 5 years ago, but recovered with emergency spinal surgery. He gave up his spleen along with a 5 + pound tumor with another emergency surgery 2 years ago. My vet said, “Byron has a powerful will to live.“ We had a great run, as he was about 16 years old when he went to the bridge on 2/20/21. Happy to the end-Run like the wind my dear Byron.
-
-
CASSIE(aka Candi) GOFF – 12/11/2012 – 11/18/2023 – It is we a broken heart we said goodbye to our beloved Cassie after her battle with cancer. Cassie snuggled her way into our hearts from the moment we saw her with every wet nose boop and tail wag. She taught us how to love unconditionally, be our happiest every day and to always have a snuggle buddy, especially when a fuzzy blanket is around. To say she is missed is an understatement. Our love for her will carry on with our memories of her. We promised her, and her brother Luther, that we would love them through all the good and sad times and even after we say farewell. Rest easy my little love.
-
-
CHESTER MARTIN – 2012 – 2024 – Your morning breakfast/all around stomps for food were a constant percussion in our now quiet home. We miss the way you chuffed your cheeks to get attention, lads and dad’s night staying up, your wiry twig filled hair in our hands, the way you used to bring in the whole backyard with you when you came inside. You had a real “make it worth my while” quality to you when you didn’t want to do something that always made us laugh, and we never had to ask you to look out for your sister Heidi (or when to tell her to cool it). She misses you just as much as Mom and Dad. You helped mellow out other young dogs we fostered, taught them your old man Setter ways before sending them off to happy homes the better for it. Chester passed peacefully at home in one of his favorite spots, with all his favorite things right up to the end. We’ll see you again and soon our moss-man. The four of us love you buddy ❤
-
-
CLOVER SHEEHAN – 5/2022 – Clover came as a very old foster, scared and lost. He chose to trust and love again and together we had just over 6 months together. CONNER REBER – Conyngham Conner, forever in our hearts!
-
-
COOPER HUNER – 2004- 9/24/2020 – Cooper was left in a back yard with a split open bag of dog food. He seemed to be hunting trained, but scared of loud bangs. We found each other 36 hours after my previous dog passed. He was underweight, malnourished, and nearly bald. He stole my heart the minute the vet opened his cage and told me he wasn’t healthy enough to be adopted. He went home with me that day and lived with me for the next 13 years. A great pointer, true runner, a Certified Therapy Dog, and loved by all.

DEZ LANIAK – 6/2020 – Dez was the sweetest, most loving and gentle dog we could have ever imagined having. Although he clearly had a rough life before A&B and us, he was as regal as they came. Dez enjoyed relaxing in his favorite outdoor lounge chair, daily walks on the canal trying to sniff out the woodchucks, his routine morning “bath” from our cat (his best buddy- Red) and most of all spending time and lots of snuggles with his family. He will be forever missed and always remembered by his mommy, 2 sisters, and 3 cats
-
-
DOROTHY CARDOZA -PIETRUSZKA 12/2020 – If ever a dog has earned the epithet “Angel” it was Dorothy. Despite multiple ailments she was a sweet, loving part of our family. When we began to foster Dorothy it seemed that her time with us would be short and yet she seemed to enjoy her short time with us. At the end of her life she was no longer a stray but a much loved member of our family.
-
-
DUKE ZIMMERMAN – 2020 – Duke started the first 6 years of his life in an outside concrete kennel. I told everyone, all he wanted was love and forthe 5 years we had him, love is what he got! He was such a goofball, but had that kind of furyou could just cuddle with all the time. Run free at Rainbow Bridge, Dukie!!

-
FAWN NASADOS – October 2022 – August 2024 – We knew what we were signing up for in October 2022 when we started fostering Fawn. She was 15 years old, heartworm positive, deaf, and had been abandoned by her previous family. What could have been a short term arrangement became 22 wonderful months that felt like a lifetime. Unfortunately, Fawn’s body finally betrayed her. She bravely hung on for a few days, unable to stand and having trouble breathing, so we made the incredibly hard decision that it was time for her to rest. Much like our other pets who have preceded her in death, she will continue to live in our hearts and memories. While the pain is still too raw, and the emptiness is overwhelming, eventually we will only remember the good, and all the joy she brought us these last two years. Hospice fostering for a wonderful organization like Above & Beyond is not for everyone, but we have to remember that we are doing it for those innocent, abandoned animals who deserve to know that they are also worthy of love.
-
-

GRANGER PERKINS NOVAK – 6/2019 – After being diagnosed with a heart tumor in February Granger was given two months to live but he managed to keep going for four months. He continued to be a happy boy right up until the last two hours and he was stalking bunnies in the park the day he died. Our thanks to the 29 people who gave him rides from Colorado to his foster in Connecticut and, especially, to Mike Iovanna, his foster, for letting us be his last forever home. HENRY the HIPPIE LOVEBUG MICHAUD- 2010- 2023 – my beautiful darling old hippie lovebug, such a gentle soul who loved everyone and always had a big smile on that face. He was always so happy, we only had him for 3 years but they were the best years ever, he was my soulmate, he looked at life as whatever man lol, so laid back, not a care in the world and always by myside. I lost a bit of my heart the day my Henry died, he took it with him over the rainbow bridge until we meet again, my darling boy.

-
-
HOLLY BISCUIT HANRAHAN- 2009?-2022 – We picked up our Holly biscuit from a transport volunteer on February 27, 2014. Holly Biscuit jumped into my husband’s arms and into our hearts -she never looked back. Holly was a cruelty rescue from Kansas City Missouri. Her rescue journey was probably ordinary, but Holly biscuit was an extraordinary English Setter. During her eight years with us she showed us great resilience, personality, and warmth. Holly Biscuit loved to hide things she would always try to get your Jack Daniels when you weren’t looking, and she really loved her backyard. The physical and emotional scars Holly Biscuit carried were real. Her willingness to jump into our lives, to trust and love were no small gestures. When she slept, her lovely Setter face had a profound look of contentment and peace. For 8 years Holly had a lovely, warm, and safe place. During those 8 years, Holly brought great joy into our lives. Holly inspired us to rescue a second Setter, Lily. Lily and her family miss Holly everyday.
-
-
HOLLY RESAVAGE – 9/8/22 – Holly came to rescue with multiple health issues. Although she suffered with severe arthritis & neurological issues, she never complained. I don’t think Holly had a mean bone in her body. With time she came to enjoy meeting people on walks & liked going for rides in the car to the shore. I knew I wouldn’t have her for a long time, but never expected to have to say good-bye so soon. It would have been 2 years this December 22nd that I had her, hence her name Holly. She was my Christmas present. Holly put up a good fight, but in the end her body couldn’t take any more. I miss her everyday & can’t believe she’s gone. I can take some comfort in knowing she was happy with her Cairn buddy Brophy, her people who loved her, good food & a safe place to live.
-
-
HONEY BEAR BELLANDI – 2/10/2004 – 7/16/2020 – We adopted her at 15. We loved her for 1 year and 5 months. She gave us a lifetime of beautiful memories. she loved to ride and sleep on her Daddys couch. So much at 16.5 she still ran to climb the steep steps to get to that couch. She was a hoot…She went everywhere with us, she was our world. Play with the angels our sweet girl, we will see you one day again. We love and miss you so much.
-
-

-
JAGGER ALLEN – 2009 – 2022 – Jagger, you were our special boy. Maybe your past left you with many mental and emotional scars but you were always such a loving, timid soul despite it. We love you so much and will always be grateful for the time we had with you. You were one of a kind and we hope you’re keeping your sister Maggie company up in heaven. Rest in peace, our beautiful boy.

-
-
JADE SHEEHAN – 2011-2021 – In her three years with me, Jade brought laughter and joy, curiosity and a gift for finding the adventure in exploring our neighborhood and park. She was loving and playful and so affectionate. She was also happy when the neighbor’s cat would greet her and she remembered all the places we had found squirrels and rabbits on previous walks. Through her, I met human and animal neighbors, learned our surroundings in all seasons, and helped small children overcome their fear of dogs. She came to me after losing her first human at a time of great sorrow and loneliness in my life. Together, we came through the grief and she brought joy back into our home. Her final illness was short and she left this life surrounded by love and in my arms. I am so grateful for the time we had together.
-
-
JAKE – You taught us patience, you taught us love, heaven-sent from above. Kindness, courage, that was you. Never was a friend so true. Now, we ask who rescued who? We are full of gratitude. What was started came full ‘round; you were lost, we were found.
-
-
JAKE WALLACE – 12/28/2008-12/2/2022 – Jake, your passing leaves a huge hole in our hearts and lives. You saved Sully when you came to live with us in February 2018. Sully was grieving the recent loss of his “pack”, rescues: SaraBeth (bladder cancer) and Ivy (kidney failure). Until you arrived, Sully wouldn’t eat or take walks; he laid on the closet floor and cried. You immediately became his “bestie” and life was good again. Like Sully, we all adored you, Jake. You were a Prince among dogs: friendly to man and beast, easy going, polite, trusting, curious and loving. I never understood why this was your 9th home in 9 years but was so happy you lived out your days with us. My appreciation goes to Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue who saved Jake when he was listed “free” on Craigslist in Knoxville in November 2017; and to his foster, Shirley Brantingham, who nursed him into good health: figured out his allergies, took care of his dental and medicated baths to help his coat grow in. Jake faced many health challenges over the past 5 years that were expertly addressed by Dr. Tonya White at the Appalachian Animal Hospital Hospital, allowing Jake to live an active, rewarding life. He enjoyed his weekly vet visits, seeing his favorite vet techs. Walks with Jake were a delight; he ambled. Neighborhood cats were the only reason to shift out of low gear. He rarely barked but as his vision failed, he became convinced that the neighbor’s black drain pipe was their cat, barking at it to no avail. Not just walks, but life in general with Jake was a delight: he was a big boy, a comforting presence, a calm, loving soul. Godspeed, My Dearest Boy. If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.

JAX KLATT – 6/2020 -We adopted our beautiful Greek puppy Jax during the Christmas season of 2019. For the next six months he brought such joy to our home. He loved to play with his dog mates. He enjoyed chewing on toys, shoes, and anything he could scrounge up. He also loved casing butterflies. But most of all, he loved to cuddle. He was loved and will be deeply missed.
-
-
JED BELLANDI – est 2006 – 2022 – Our Jed, our Jitterbug. He came to us at 14 years young after we sadly sent Honey Bear on ahead. He had been an outside dog his entire life and his owner had passed away. As soon as we were sent a video of him, asking us to foster, we knew he was sent by God and Honey Bear. We just knew right away that was our little boy. He soon realized how great a bed and soft blankets were. We brought out the puppy in him and he helped heal our broken hearts . He went everywhere with us and loved shopping, as well as frequenting the Ocala Drive-in. He was a hugger and a comedian. He loved his brother Jesse so much he would bark at him, it was the only time we heard his bark. He was a lover of raw goats milk every morning, and would not let you forget if snack time was alittle late. He loved couch time with his daddy and would do his best napping there. He loved to rub his head on anything, especially after eating. He loved quiet times on the bed with his mom, where she would always tell him how much she loved him. She would also tell him how much God loved him. He was a gift from God and he would always be protected, as God had in fact protected him outside all those years. He certainly went to heaven knowing all about God and his love. We miss and love him so much. He filled our souls with so much love, happiness, and peace on this earth. We were blessed to love him for 2 years, just truly and beautifully blessed. Mommy and daddy will see you soon, our precious little man.

-
JESSE KEISER – 3/4/2020 – She was 15 years old and was the most amazing girl ever. We adopted her from your organization on February 19th, 2006. She was an ‘only child’ for almost 6 years and she did everything with us – camping, walking, running, riding in the car – and she loved every minute of it. She was fostered in Iowa and when we talked on the phone her foster mom said ‘I hope you don’t mind her sleeping in your bed’. We laughed and bought Jesse her own bed, but from day 1 she insisted on sleeping with her people instead. That continued until her last day here on Earth, and we didn’t mind one bit. Jesse was the sweetest dog to us and our children when they were born. We loved her and she loved us unconditionally. Her presence is missed dearly, but the many years we had and memories we made will never be forgotten. Thank you to your organization for helping us to find our best friend. As we laid with her and helped her to find peace, we promised her that we would honor her by rescuing again some day. We believe she will send us a sign when there is another dog out there waiting to join our family. RIP Jesse ‘Roo Dog’ Keiser – 2005-2020

She is now free, sighted, running and no longer hurting. Rest in Peace Sweet Kate

LACEY WINCHESTER – 3/2020 – Many, many thanks to Lacey’s foster mom, Debra, for giving Lacey her first taste of what a loving home is. And for her her huge effort to bring Lacey out of a terrible past. I am grateful she let us adopt and continue the mission. Lacey enjoyed her new life and her setter brothers. But unfortunately, after only a few years with us she succumbed to osteosarcoma. We miss you dear girl.

-
LAINEY SCHEMBRI – 2015 – 2024- LAINEY came to us through AB Setter rescue. We had her for 3 years and loved her every minute of every day. A beautiful and noble personality. Loved her beyond measure and will love her for the rest of our days.
-
-
LIANA JONES – 2009 – 2023 – Liana arrived as a foster through ACES, but never left! She was found beside the road beside a pointer that had been hit by a car. She didn’t have a name, but Liana means “youthful guardian.” She helped us foster 14 other setters, and had the sweetest nature and disposition ever. She and Chuck averaged 10 miles of walking a week – 7,000 miles in her lifetime. Aprill, Chuck and Rocco miss her, but were lucky to share 12 magical years with her.
-
-
LILLY LUNDI – Lilly was a very special girl that came to us with many medical challenges, including seizures and tumors. We treated everything possible and gave her the comforts that she was most likely denied previously in her life. Her 8 months in foster with us were spent knowing that she was finally valued, loved, and very special. Rest easy, sweet Lilly.
-
-
LILLY WILSON – May 10, 2007 – July 18, 2022 – Lilly was with us for a short 14 months. She came to us as a skinny, scared 14 year old. We were determined to give her the best last months a girl could enjoy. She soon came out of her shell and showed her true sassy, strong willed self. Although she was deaf, she filled the house with her personality, constant humming, daily 4:30 pm barking session, and constant rustling around to rearrange her blanket. For 14 months, she loved fiercely and stole our hearts. We will love you forever Lilly Beth!
-
-
LIZZIE KANE – 2015- 2024 – Such a sweet and gentle companion, who filled my heart with unconditional love.
-
-
LOUIE KELSHAW – 2012 (?) – 2023 – Louie was a failed foster. He was a force of energy and joy! He was one of the smartest dogs I ever shared my home with. He came to me pretty feral. but he learned how to be a gentleman in the house. We worked as a pack on our hikes with him off leash, and it was one of the things I will miss the most. He knew that if he saw another human or dog that he was to return to my side so he could go on leash. He never failed at that. But above all, he was the sweetest dog. He is missed.

MISS MAGGIE MAY BUTZ- 2010-2023 – Please share a brief sentiment to post with their picture. We said goodbye to Miss Maggie May from Mississippi today ???? our hearts are very sad and even our Aussie’s are mourning. We adopted Maggie almost 10 years ago from Above and Beyond English Setter’s. And when she came to live with us she adopted Steve as her person, she became hubby’s first dog. She had an amazing nose for hunting grouse and even learned the sounds they make so she would find them. She loved watching nature shows with me and sometimes would sit and watch TV with me for hours. She loved everyone she met and was incredibly easy to handle. She loved walking with us and even continued walking 1 mile until about a week ago. She loved when I would come home and would sit and bark at me until I gave her a treat of some kind. She was very loved and will be greatly missed in our home, it’s already too quiet without her here. RIP sweet Miss Maggie May!❤️❤️

-
MAGGIE SNELL-Maggie loved playing a game of chase around the kitchen island, which was one of the humans walking around the island while Maggie gleefully trotted behind. Her feline brother loved her dearly and always made sure she was ok. If Maggie sneezed, Mac would run to her side to check on her. Maggie never missed a meal but Mac always stood guard to make sure no one would steal a kibble from his girl. She loved standing in the sun and letting the wind blow through her feathers and of course, her favorite thing to do, nap! She was loved by all and dearly missed.

MAISIE BROOKSHIRE – 2021 – While this picture captures the spirit of my Maisie, nothing can convey the joy and happiness she brought to my life everyday. It was such a joy to watch her continually grow comfortable with us after having been given love and care from her foster mom. I’ll always love and miss my special Maisie girl.
-
-
MAISY CROWELL – March 2021 – a sweet girl who was the other “M” in the Max and Maisy duo, also known as Maisy-Daisy and MayDay, who loved to climb furniture and into your lap like she was a three-year old and just loved being near the other furs and her people. She enjoyed sunning herself in the backyard and just all around being the “queen bee” of things even with our older ES, Cissy. She also LOVED going to work with Dad and thought her daily job was to keep him on track to get to work on time. She stole everyone’s hearts and we will forever miss her. Rick and Kym Crowell
-
-
MALI YUNGK – 2010- 2013 – We adopted Mali in 2012 through A&B. She came from Missouri to Virginia. She had lived outside year round before coming to us, so had to be house-trained and learn using steps, etc. She joined another rescue setter, both of whom had replaced our two other setters who died within a month of each other. I was recovering from cancer surgery, and Mali was part of my recovery. Ever calm, loving, easy going, she was the most no-fuss dog of the 9 dogs we have had over the last 30 years. She was the companion to three of our other setters. She got us through my illness, adjusting to retirement, a move to another state, and COVID. We loved her so much, and she is missed by us – particularly our girl Darby who is now by herself. This is her on her last day – still beautiful on the inside and outside.
-
-
MAX CROWELL – February 2019 -a sweet old soul who loved his neck being scratched, cuddling, going to work with Dad, and chasing lizards/squirrels/frogs. He made a positive impression on everyone who met him of how much a special needs dog could do and give when give the opportunity to do so. He will be forever missed. Rick and Kym Crowell

-
MAYA CAGGIANO – In the arms of the Angels, running free

-
MIMZY TRETHEWAY- 11/2019- Our Mimzy girl will be loved forever. She liked to chase ducks. She was a strong swimmer and a fast runner. She covered her face when she wanted pets and would ‘rooooo’ when she wanted food. She was kind and gentle and smart. She is missed.
-
-
MOLLY IOVANNA – 5/4/2022 – Molly was my good friend and constant companion for over 12 years. She came to me through A&B from a hunting club in the south. I have been told that the tattoo number in her ear was used if hunters wanted to identify a special hunting companion or the setter they wanted to use to mate with their dog. On early walks and with help from Eileen, Molly taught me what I didn’t know about English Setters who were trained and wanted to hunt. She attended several of spring and fall picnics. Her picture has appeared on many of the A&B Calendars. Molly, thanks for the love and joy you brought to our home. You will be missed.
-
-
NELL – 4/20/2020 – My mother rescued her Nell ( formerly Josie Wags) a few years ago. Nell left us yesterday, but was a dream to her beloved Sally every day. They were a perfect pair. Nell could not hear, but boy, could she love. She was a gentle soul; when walking, spying a squirrel or bird, she froze and just looked. A perfect match for my mother who worried with other dogs about pulling. Not Nell, she took care of her Sally. Thank you so much English Setter Rescue for saving this dream of a dog so my mom could meet and love her.
-
-
NEVILL & JONESY KLATCHAK – To our two sweet boys Neville and Jonesy. Although you came to us 6 years apart, you were bonded to each other closer than if you were blood brothers. We often remember the funny things you guys did to make us laugh and smile and sometimes even cry when your past life fears would hold you back from doing certain things. We pray that we made your lives as happy as you made ours. We love and miss you everyday. Mom and Dad (Joanne & Mark Klatchak)
-
-
NICK SCHMIEDLE MASON – 12/2020 – Lovingly fostered by Sally Fairey and adopted by Steve Schmiedl and Wes Mason. You passed our way only briefly but you left a permanent mark on our hearts. You are missed.
-
-
OLLIE SHALLEY – became a puppy angel on 11/15/2022 – Our beloved Ollie was a sweet, affectionate, clever, happy, fun, and adventurous dog who was a friend to all, despite a rough start in life! He loved to run, explore, and play. He was as beautiful on the inside as he was on the outside. We loved him dearly and will always miss him. We were blessed to have him in our lives, to enjoy him as a youngster and care for him in his later years.
-
-
OPIE MAHONE- 2010-2022 – We got our beautiful sweet Opie at the age of two. He was our first rescue. Everyone who met him, loved him, except the neighborhood squirrels. Though he’s been gone a little over a year, we miss him and our other setter babies, terribly. His adopted sister, Sally misses him but he taught her a lot and was the perfect older brother. We will see you on the other side, sweet boy. Run free with Jeb and Bud.
-
-
OREO LOEB – 2015-2023 – You arrived in September 2020 as a flea bitten, heartworm positive, anxious, reactively nippy pup, afraid of so much and with no idea how to climb steps. With patience and time and the guidance of resident pup Miley you learned to relax and trust and play. It was so funny to watch you throw your salmon treat in the air and bark at it. It melted my heart when you would stop rough housing and look over at me to make sure you were still being a “good boy”. You would sound the alarm whenever anyone came near the house; howl at the firetruck; and shake with fear over thunder. You were very special and your time came way too soon.
-
-
PATCHES KILCOYNE – 5/2020 – It is with great sadness that I share the passing of my beloved Patches with our Above and Beyond English Setter Group. I adopted him 7 years ago from this organization at age 7 and will be forever grateful for giving me the most beautiful, loving dog I have ever met. He was deaf, but it served as no barrier for him to hike, swim, and make lots of dog friends. He has truly been the brightest part of my everyday. Again thank you A&B for the opportunity to share my home and also my heart with this special boy. Julie Kilcoyne (Patches Mom)
-
-
PEPPER EVEREST – 2012- 2021 – Pepper came to us as Dr. Pepper, a stray from a shelter in Kansas. A&B and 20 transport volunteers got him to us in PA. Soon after we got him home, he charged at us playfully, with a big setter smile and wagging tail, then leaned into us, rubbing against us like a giant cat! Gene and I quickly knew that Pep was not a foster dog; he had adopted us! Pepper lived every moment with joy, running in the yard, patrolling for birds, barking loudly, hanging out with our other dogs, and lounging on his favorite bed. He was active until his last day on earth. We love you, Pep! Run free at Rainbow Bridge, until we meet again.
-
-
PETE PENCZEK – 1/09/2007 – 9/15/2022 – I can not thank A&BESR enough for bringing sweet Pete into my life. I could have never expected that an email containing a picture with a sad and dirty old dog would have forever changed my life. Although my time with him was not nearly enough, the time we did have together will forever be cherished. I look forward to the day we are reunited in Heaven where the car rides and adventures are endless. Love you always my boy.
-
-
PETIE – Because of Petie’s gentleness and manners, we called him the Southern Gentleman. He loved his walks and taught us to take time to smell the roses! In just two short years, he tore out a piece of our hearts. Be pain free and run happily, Petie!
-
-
PETER FOSTER- February 2019 – Peter had the hero’s heart of a fighter, and won the love of so many champions. His will to survive was not enough to save him from the heavy load of heart worms that eventually killed him. For the sake of all Peter’s out there, keep your pets on heart worm preventative. Run free, and breath easy, beloved Peter
-
-
PETEY BUXTON – 2008-2022 – Surrounded by family, we said “see you later” to our “Sweet Pete” on 6/29/2022. He will forever be in our hearts….

-
-
SALLY MCLAUGHLIN – 3/6/2021 – Indy Sally came us as a 3 year old dog in March of 2008. We fell in love with her and she turned us in to “Setter People.” Sally was a beautiful, graceful and athletic girl. She loved chasing birds, squirrels and rabbits in the back yard, and we enjoyed many long walks and hikes over the years. Sally lived a long and full life with us and we all shared so much love. She died March 6th, 2021 at the age of 16. She will be greatly missed, but we are so appreciative of all the years we got to have her in our lives.

SAM READ – Beloved Senior foster who found his forever home with his foster family
-
-
SAM WILSON HOLT MOORE- 201?- 2023 – Sam Wilson was the best, most earnest boy. His Gigi made up and sang his song for him all the time: Sam Wilson, you’re a pretty pretty boy. Sam Wilson, you bring us lots of joy. You’re the perfect boy, Sam Wilson. Sam Wilson, Sam Wilson, Sam Wilson.
-
-
SARA TIMAR – 9/2013 (?) – 9/2024 – I miss the walks and the pitter patter of her paws as she came upstairs to find me after when gone too long. I miss how she moved from her favorite resting spot to the sofa so she could be closer to me. She wasn’t a perfect dog, but I am not a perfect person. She was more close to being perfect than I am. She wanted love. I look at her picture every day, but I don’t really need any reminders of how wonderful she was.
-

-
SIBA HARVEY – 1/2021 – Siba was our sweet, shy foster boy from Greece. I had the privilege of picking him up at the airport when he flew into the USA and I knew he was special. Our family fell hard for him and we were all excited to help him on his journey. We carried him around the house with his sweet swimming arms. He was a calm presence in our home, laying in the corner of the couch and under pillows. A great napping buddy. Sadly, his young body and mind had already been through so much and we held him as he crossed the bridge. We will be his forever family now and we consider it an honor to have loved him. He’s running with his siblings, Pumba and Senzi now.

SPARKY MAXWELL- Sparky passed away after a ‘short’ 14 1/2 year life. He was a fantastic companion..always by my side …ready, willing and able to go on any adventure. He accompanied me on thousands of miles of hikes through the hills of Pennsylvania. He preferred human companionship..he didn’t realize that he was a dog! I work from home and loved having him near me at all times. I miss my best friend immensely

-
STAR NEALER – 2005-2021 – Star was a senior girl when our paths crossed and she came to New Jersey to live with my Springer Spaniel and myself. Star did not have the easiest start to her life, but with the help of the volunteers at A and B she found her way to me. I made a promise to Star that I would care for and love her all the days that we were blessed to be together. Star was best friends with my ESS , Sophie. Star loved to lick peanut butter off a spoon and surprisingly loved broccoli. She was a character and such a sweet soul. She is sadly missed . I hope that we do meet our pets in Heaven, as, I would dream of seeing her smiling face and have one more hug with “my girl”.

But mostly he was our boy who loved to lay on the lawn and watch the world go by. He passed away at 12 1/2 yrs. He is with Tess again and they are complete.
-
-
TUCKER MONACHINO – 2013- 2023- Tucker Monachino, simply put, was the best boy ever. He and my dad were the best of buddies. Due to Tucker’s love of walks, they easily clocked 10,000 steps a day- rain, sleet or snow. Tucker had a secret love of singing (although he only showed my dad once) and an unbridled fear of cats. He never met a piece of cheese that he didn’t like and he was the coolest of customers. Tucker was the yin to my (crazy) dog’s yang- a true old soul. Tucker crossed the rainbow bridge on August 21, 2023 due to lymphoma. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him, but especially by my dad. Thank you, sweet Tucker, for opening our hearts and filling them with joy every day. We love you.
-
-
WALLACE BRYANT – 2009 – 6/2017 – Wallace was a gentle, loving soul, companion to Raffles and Jax. He died too early from livercancer. He was an ambassador for English setters, cuddling up to strangers who stopped tosay hello when we were out walking and then wanted to know about the breed. He is missed every day
-
-
WALLACE MOWERY – 2017-2024 – Sweet, sweet Wallace,we love you and miss you greatly.
-
-
ANNIE WALLACE – 2009- 2018 – Annie arrived as a senior Above and Beyond foster in March 2018. It was quickly apparent that she was fear aggressive to other dogs. Working with a trainer, she slowly relaxed a bit but preferred to always have a barrier between her and the resident dogs. An off-leash dog charged us on a walk several months after she arrived and instead of attacking she hid behind me. I asked to adopt her that day because I knew she trusted me. Shortly after that a mammary tumor appeared. It was removed and the histopathology report was “benign”. A few months later another tumor appeared in the same place; this one metastasized to her lungs and claimed her quickly. Annie loved “hunting”. We went daily to parks where she could stalk the Canada geese and set them to wing. Another favorite prey was Mr. Stinky, the ground hog. When she was no longer able to walk very far, I drove her to locations where she could watch her geese and her Mr. Stinky from the car. Annie was only with me 18 months but what a glorious time that was for me. I miss her every day.
-
-
ARABELLA WALLACE – 2006 – 2014 – Arabella came to me at age 6 or 7 from an Alabama shelter, heartworm positive and with mammary tumors. After she was heartworm free, she had surgery to remove the tumors. Alas, some were benign but apparently some were not. Eventually, the cancer found its way to her lungs and she passed a little over 2 years after she arrived. I absolutely adored her. She had the sweetest nature and loved to dig. After the cancer metastasized to her lungs and walking a distance became to wearying for her, I wheeled her in a cart into the woods so she could dig out the critters that so enthralled her. She had a good dig the night before she passed in my arms.
-
-
ARIELLA WALLACE – 2008-2016 – Ariella came from a North Carolina shelter with the worst case of heartworm my vet had seen. She was also suffering from several tick borne diseases. I met Ariella’s transport on my birthday and she passed 6 weeks later at home in my arms. She was so terribly ill and anemic that her heart just gave out. I had adopted her a few days before and the vet was awaiting blood for a transfusion to try to buy her more time.
-
-
IVY WALLACE – 2008 – 2018 – Ivy was another Above and Beyond girl who came to me shortly after Arabella and Ariella passed. She was in kidney failure. In spite of her poor health we had 2 good years together. She loved walkies and lying in the sun, make 2 trips from the cold north winters to Florida. Squirrels were her passion; what good fortune the Florida house her last winter had a yard full of them. She sat at the glass storm door and watched squirrel tv all day long. It was from that house that we made our final trip to the vet. She passed in my arms.
-
-

-
WILBUR – In thanksgiving for 12 years of Wilbur’s affection and quirkiness.
Summer Teegardin

-
WINDSOR BELLANDI – 2016 – 2024 – Our Winnie Woo. He came to us from Greece. I saw him posted by A&B, with the other Greek dogs, and I fell in LOVE immediately. I reached out to ask if we could foster( fail) him. I was told he had a family very interested. As time moved forward I just couldn’t shake him. I believed so deeply we were meant to love him, and it was so confusing to think he wouldn’t come to us. Just before he came to the USA I got a surprise call that unfortunately he had mitral valve disease and would we still be interested in taking him?. I had to fight back my joy to not yell in Jennifer Cloherty’s ear saying happily, YES YES !!. He came into our world and filled our lives with so much love and joy. He fought his disease so bravely, and we were gifted with 6 BEAUTIFUL months. We had him for Christmas, and he was able to experience Santa, presents, and A LOVING HOME. He also got to experience the ocean and he loved to go for rides. He loved his squeeky bone. I know I couldnt stop thinking of him because God knew he was indeed coming to us, it was divine intervention. That phone call was the BEST. We love and miss you so much precious Windsor. We will see you soon, you just went on ahead, the best is still yet to come, our sweetest little dapper doo
-
-
WINNIE WRUCK-RICHESON -February 2019- Winnie was God’s gift to me. She was funny and so sweet and always had to keep me in her sights. Sometimes when she was following me both of our feet would be in my shoe. She will be missed
-
-
WINSLOW STANLEY- 12/21/2018 Many times I have referred to Winslow as the best dog in the world and to me that is so true. He had a huge heart and his goal in life was to be close (like, in your lap) to the people who loved him.
He made me a better person for having known him for three years. I love you more than ever, Wins.
-
-
WINSTON HOLLIS – 12/2020 Our first foster who faced every roadblock with a tail wag even at the end. He had a soul that stole everyone’s heart. We are so glad to have been let into Winston’s life even if for only 4 months. Our hearts are broken now that he is gone. We are thankful his dog brother and sister and his cat brothers and sister will have him waiting for them on the other side. You will never be forgotten sweet boy.
-
-
ZOEY JANOWIAK – 2010 – 2023 – Zoey was unique, as are all our doggies. I started out as her “rescuer”, but she stayed with me thru many major surgeries and became my rescuer. Through my pain, COVID, and other changes, she wagged her tail and loved me and everyone we met!
