BOO

BOO AB#19-095-2 – M, 2 Years

Gender: Male

Age: approx.. 2 years

Size/Weight: 46lbs

Color: Orange and White

Breed: English Setter

Good with Children: Older children- Yes. Not sure if suitable with younger children because he may get very excited, but not tested with them.

Good with Dogs: Yes!

Good with Cats: No, but not tested.

House trained: Yes

Crate trained: No

Leash trained: Working on it. Never had been on a leash before. He does pull and is strong. Needs training on a leash more.

Behavior: Boo rides well in a car. Doesn’t bite, sometimes gently mouths your hand, but we are working on that. Doesn’t jump up, but likes to be right near you. He is very athletic. He knows: sit, outside, NO, Off, Treat, Eat, and fetch. He does need work with recall when outside and distracted. He is a cuddly, kissing boy inside. Very busy.

Fence: Boo MUST have at least a 6 foot fence or invisible fence. He loves trying to get out to see what is on the other side of the fence and is a runner, with typical setter "I'm not going to listen to my humans" recall once loose.

Medical History: He has his rabies certificate, is neutered, tested negative for heart worm and is currently on heart worm and flea & tick meds

Activity Level: Boo loves to run and run. He loves to chase birds and squirrels. He loves toys, which need to be durable, and really enjoys his kong and Deer Antler to chew on. He will bolt out a door or gate, especially if he sees something. Although he is very active outside, Boo is very loving and gentle inside. He loves attention and would thrive if he had another dog to play with. He sleeps very soundly at night and has naps. Boo is so smart he learned how to use the doggie door by the 2nd day.

Foster Comments: Boo is a really kind, gentle, and sweet dog. He loves giving and receiving affection. He is very gentle and doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. He shows no food aggression nor trouble taking toys etc away from him. He is a bit needy, and likes attention and affection. Boo is super smart and learns very quickly. He now knows how to sit for treats and food and whenever you ask him to. Boo did eat super fast at first, but now we give him 1/2 his food in the am and 1/2 at dinner time, and he as slowed down and doesn’t seem so anxious about getting food. Boo loves everyone he meets, human and other dogs. He is super friendly. He hasn’t had one accident in the house. Boo is a typical, young, active setter. Boo wants to please his people and is a very happy guy.

We love Boo. He is a sweetheart, but he is very active and has that need to run and exercise more than we can give him. Boo needs people who like to run, play or exercise with him. Maybe hikes, long walks, the dog park, or just another active dog to play with. Boo loves to play with other dogs, and always tries to engage my 2 dogs with play by bringing them toys etc.  Besides being smart, Boo is also very funny. Considering he has only been with us about 3 weeks, and never been in a house before, it is really amazing how much he has learned already. Patience with his learning will make him an awesome family member for life. He has a lot of potential.
