FAWN NASADOS – October 2022 – August 2024 – We knew what we were signing up for in October 2022 when we started fostering Fawn. She was 15 years old, heartworm positive, deaf, and had been abandoned by her previous family. What could have been a short term arrangement became 22 wonderful months that felt like a lifetime. Unfortunately, Fawn’s body finally betrayed her. She bravely hung on for a few days, unable to stand and having trouble breathing, so we made the incredibly hard decision that it was time for her to rest. Much like our other pets who have preceded her in death, she will continue to live in our hearts and memories. While the pain is still too raw, and the emptiness is overwhelming, eventually we will only remember the good, and all the joy she brought us these last two years. Hospice fostering for a wonderful organization like Above & Beyond is not for everyone, but we have to remember that we are doing it for those innocent, abandoned animals who deserve to know that they are also worthy of love.
