ELLIE AB#IN -18-097-2 – F, 7 Months

ELLIE AB#IN -18-097-2 – F, 7 Months

FOSTER NAME: Ellie

Gender: Female

Age: 6 months

Size/Weight: 18 pounds, will be a petite girl, maybe 30-35 when full grown
(perfect lap size)

Color: Golden Rust

Breed: Golden Retriever mix - DNA test pending (Honorary Setter!)

Good with Children: She has not been around any at my house, but based on
her age & temperament, I think she would do well in a home with children of
any age

Good with Dogs: She is great with my resident dogs. She does well with
others in a day care & training setting. Typical puppy playfulness with
others.

Good with Cats: TBD but based on her age & savvy cat, would probably be fine

House trained: Still working on this. She keeps her crate clean at night. I
have taken her out on a schedule to give her every chance to be successful.
Very few accidents in the house.

Crate trained: Yes, but of course prefers the sofa or your bed! She is only
crated when I am not home & at night. She goes in with some encouragement &
settles down nicely. Sleeps all night quietly in the crate until I come to
get her in the morning.

Leash trained: Working on it! Will need some additional training if there is
a desire to do a lot of leash work.

Cars: Always rides in a crate. Does well after a little whining

Activity Level: Typical puppy activity level for this girl. She does explore
the yard a bit, does some crazy zoomies, but when she's done exploring, she
lays in the grass or is ready to come in for snuggles & indoor play time
with various toys. She is generally calmer than her setter siblings and
prefers to be with her people.

Fence: Not required, but preferred. Although she is tiny enough to fit
through my fence, she respects the boundary (while dragging a long lead).
She loves bugs & butterflies. She is much calmer than many setters and would
probably be ok with multiple long walks, hikes and other activities with her
family.

Training/Behavior: Ellie is a typical puppy. She loves to romp in the yard,
play with her fur siblings, plays with all the toys, chews on bones, eats
well, & is a big snuggle bug. She made new friends easily at doggie day
care. No resource guarding. Ellie is a sweet little girl & very smart. She
learned the routines at home & day care very quickly. We are working on name
recognition & basic obedience. She is very food motivated, so should be
super easy to train. She would definitely benefit from obedience classes.
She naturally wants to please you and follows her people everywhere.

Medical History: Up-to-date on all shots, microchipped, & on heartworm, flea
& tick preventative. Spayed on 9/21.

Ellie originates from Greece where Leishmaniasis is endemic. She was removed
from Greece as a puppy, so it is unlikely she would ever develop
Leishmaniasis, but the parasite can remain dormant in the system for many
years, so potential adopters must be willing to commit to annual testing for
the next 7 years.  Typically, the test needs to be sent to a special lab,
but any regular vet can draw the blood and send it to the lab.  The test
typically costs $120-150.

Foster Comments: This gal hails from Athens, Greece, where she was pulled to
safety from the streets until we could transport her to the US. She arrived
at my home Labor Day weekend. She is a sweet and friendly girl who deserves
to find a new home where she'll be loved and cherished. She is a very nice,
loving, easy dog to have in your home. Ellie is a very sweet and happy
little puppy.  She loves other dogs, chasing bugs and butterflies in the
yard, and playing with various toys.  Most of all though, Ellie loves her
people.  She wants to be with you all the time and loves to be carried and
cuddled.  As long as she has had a good walk or romp in the yard, she is
content to curl up on the couch or in a dog bed in my office while I work.

We know Ellie's mom was a Golden Retriever, however she has a shorter
lab-like coat with Mom's coloring. Dad must've been smaller because she is
pretty small for a Golden & not a maniac retriever.

Ellie is a very loving, affectionate, and happy (and a little bit spoiled)
puppy. She will quickly steal your heart.....and break mine, when I have to
say good-bye!

Adoption fee: $395

Foster Location:  Plymouth, IN
