BODHI AB#19-060-7 – M, 10 Weeks
Foster dog name: Bodhi – AB#19-60-7
Age: 9 weeks old as of 5.13.19
Size/Weight: Small puppy, hard to tell how big they will get
Color: Black and white, with Black ticking.
Breed: English Setter mix. Mom is English Setter, dad may have been a Pointer
Socialization/training: Bodhi came in with his brother Ansel. They had to be isolated until they had proper veterinary care, so they went from their litter to just the two of them for the first 3 weeks. Since being properly vetted, both puppies have been around all of my resident dogs, and fosters ranging in multiple sizes from small to large. No issue with anyone! They’ve also been socialized with cats, chickens & ducks (they definitely took an interest in the birds) and domestic pigs! Training is obviously minimal at this age but they are definitely responding to a strict routine of feeding and potty time.
Good with Children: Yes of course, as always be cautious of younger children due to their age as they are very excitable.
Good with Dogs: Yes
Good with Cats: Yes, they have been around my four resident cats, I will just add a side note that they are very much in my cats faces….they pretty much maul them. My cats are very patient and deal with it or hide to get away from them, but no aggression. Given their age, I see no issue being raised with a cat, I would just be sure the cat is dog savvy.
House trained: No, we just started working on house training. They do go the bathroom every time they are outside as soon as I put them down. Obviously, they go out right after eating. They have started holding the urge to go while we started crate training this week so I believe that will be an essential tool, but – as we all know with babies, they’re just beginners!
Crate trained: I just transitioned the boys to the crate, and they are getting used to it.
Leash trained: n/a – haven’t even started yet.
Activity Level: Playful puppies all the time! They love stuffed animals and get into anything and everything. Puppy proofing the house will be essential. They love to romp around with the big dogs and with each other. They’re still little and love lots of attention as well.
Fence: Fence preferred since they’re so young, and will have lots of energy for the years to come. I’m open to invisible fence as well, if applicant has experience.
Behavior: Cuddly, independent & attentive. They obviously swing between all characteristics, but I would definitely label them as playful and cuddlers. I’m sure once they’re separated for adoption they will need even more cuddles and reassurance.
Medical History: Up-to-date on all puppy vaccines, and have been wormed. Heartworm prevention started. They also have had their flea and tick preventative and will be microchipped prior to adoption. Will need to be neutered when old enough
Foster Comments: I mean….who doesn’t love puppies!! Their personalities are really just starting to show as individual dogs. They entered foster care very young, and have really only had each other in this journey, so I would just reiterate the fact that each will need lots of attention! They actually look very similar from the face on. I have noticed Bodhi really likes to cuddle and get attention. They’re impressively handsome and undoubtedly smart boys. I do notice they follow the lead of my resident dogs which has made handling two puppies easier for me, so they take direction well given their age. Both really are absolute dolls! Changing a little & learning more about them every day.
