AUBREY

Aubrey  AB# 19-196 – M, 8 Years

Foster dog name:  Aubrey  # 19-196

Gender:  Male

Age:  8

Size/Weight:  44#

Color:  Tri color

Breed:  English Setter

Socialization/training:  At the dog park Aubrey plays with the other dogs. I don’t think he has had much exposure to other dogs and I sometimes have to remind him not to get too rough

Good with Children:  Good with older children. Not tested with small children

Good with Dogs:  Yes

Good with Cats:  Unknown

House trained:  Yes

Crate trained:  Not tested but unlikely

Leash trained:  He knows what to do but he constantly pulls.  If left alone with a leash or a harness, he chews them.  Fine when walked alone with no distractions but that is not usual in our area.

Activity Level:  He is a typical Setter, High energy.  I have a 15’X15’ fenced in deck but both my dogs need to go to the local Dog Park to get some running time.  I have never seen a setter that could get enough exercise on a leash.

Fence:  Fence is required: Dogs aren’t allowed off leash these days so when they get off leash they don’t know how to get home.  He is a runner

Behavior:  Aubrey is a great indoor dog except he barks at everything, “Read” Great watch dog.  He is very playful and has lots of toys.  If he wants to get attention, he gets his squeaky snake and squeaks it until he gets it.  Loves attention. Will rub against your legs to be patted, rolls over to get belly rubs.   He gets up on the furniture but does not sleep on the bed, that is his choice not mine. He is exceptionally smart.  Subtle aggression with my older dog, with pushing him out of the way and sometimes growling, no fighting just intimidation.  Has thrown the funniest “Hissy Fit” I have seen since my son was two years old when I was patting my sick old dog.

Medical History:  Neutered, UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, on HWP.  He does need a dental, which is being addressed by the Board.

Foster Comments:  Aubrey is beautiful.  Perfect Zorro Mask, delicate features, soft coat and a wonderful broom of a tail.  If he weren’t a barker, I would think about keeping him; but I live in a Condo.  He should be fine in a single family home.  He deserves a place where he can be part of a family who will give him as much love as he will give them.
