THEA AB#18-022

Gender: Female
Age: 11 months
Weight: 30 lbs
Color: Black & White
Breed: English Setter

Good with Children: Yes
Good with Dogs: Yes
Good with Cats: Unknown

House trained: Mostly – a couple accidents in the house but making good progress and is going to the door to be let out now.

Crate trained: Yes

Leash trained: She still pulls a little, she’s making good progress and has gotten much better in the last week.

Behavior: Very sweet personality and very affectionate.  She loves to give kisses and get snuggled.  She has been great with the younger foster dog we have as well as our senior English Setter already in the house.  She is always wagging her tail and a very happy dog!

Activity Level: She has puppy energy, but not excessive and will lay in her crate or dog bed after a walk or play session.  She is playful and loves a good tennis ball or toy to chase around.

Fence: Fence not required, we have been walking her mostly and that has been enough to get her exercise and energy run off; however, a fenced yard would be preferred so she has some room to run.

Medical History: Chipped, Rabies, DHLPP, Dewormed, and Spayed.  Since we’ve had her, she’s been in great health.  Maia originates from Greece where Leishmaniasis is endemic.  She has tested negative, but Leishmaniasis can remain dormant in the system for many years, so their potential adopter must be willing to commit to having them tested annually for the next 7 years.

Foster Comments: Thea is an amazingly loving and affectionate pup and has got along with every dog and person she has met.  She has a sweet personality and wants to please and be around people.  She is the first to start a play session!  She is very responsive to correction and is both treat motivated and pleasing motivated with her training.  She is a smart dog and is catching on to training and house rules quickly.  We are working on sit, stay, come, and off commands, as well as some house rules.

We’ve had her in many new situations…both meeting new people and other dogs.  She has done great in both situations and hasn’t shown signs of aggression and isn’t timid.  She wants to get pets by the people and play with the dogs.
