Gender: Male
Age: 2 years
Weight: 38 lbs
Color: Black and White
Breed: English Setter

Good with Children: yes
Good with Dogs: yes
Good with Cats: unknown, but probably. He loves everyone he meets.
House trained: working on it.
Crate trained: yes
Leash trained: Sam loves walks. He doesn’t pull, but is all over the place. We are working on learning leash manners.

Behavior: Sweet, friendly Sam is learning what life inside a house is like for the first time. New experiences include learning to go down stairs and that not everything is a dog toy after accidentally chewing up the flyswatter. His tail is constantly wagging. Sam sleeps on the floor and does not get up on the furniture.

Activity Level: Sam is a lanky running machine! He loves to race around the yard and play with other dogs. He still has a bit of puppy level excitement and energy. We do a daily 1 mile walk and play outside in the yard, but he would definitely do a longer walk, or could be a good running partner.

Fence: I prefer a home with a fence for Sam, but will consider other situations.

Medical History: Sam is up to date on vaccines, neutered & microchipped. His sight may not be the best, especially in the dark.

Sam has a deformed skull and a misaligned jaw which makes one of his lower canines protrude and look like a pirate.  The skull deformity also causes him to have bug eyes and may affect his peripheral vision. He also has an abnormal gait in the rear. My vet did not detect any muscle atrophy or signs of obvious hip dysplasia

*Sam originates from Greece where Leishmaniasis is endemic. He has tested negative, but Leishmaniasis can remain dormant in the system for many years, so their potential adopter must be willing to commit to having them tested annually for the next 7 years.

Foster Comments: Sam came from Greece and is adjusting well. Sam does not bark. Sam is an adorable, curious guy, who spins when he gets excited or nervous. This occurs multiple times daily; finishing a meal can require up to a dozen spins! Noises like the vacuum and coffee grinder bother Sam.

Sam loves attention and has kisses for everyone, human and canine. Sam is food motivated and goes into the crate willingly for a treat.

Adoption Fee: $300.00

Foster Location: Gibsonia, PA
In most cases volunteer transport is available for your adopted dog to within 2 hours of your home.
