Zoli AB#IN18-071-7 – F, 7 Months

Zoli AB#IN18-071-7 – F, 5 Months

Name:  Zoli

Gender: Female

Age:  5 months (d.o.b. 2/8/18)

Color:  black and white

Size: 14.7 lbs and growing

Breed: presumed English Setter/terrier mix.  The vet noted she could be a European breed (their version of AKC) as he is not familiar with what has been bred there.  She is birdy like a setter and noses things in the ground like a terrier!  Whatever she is, she is seriously cute.  She’s got a few more months of growing, so the (guess) on her adult weight is 20-30 lbs.

Foster Comments:  Zoli is one of the Greek dogs, born in a Syrian refugee camp.  She probably knows three languages!  This pup has clearly been well-loved and socialized; no doubt she was a big hit with the kids living in the camp.  If children around her sit down, she will promptly crawl in their laps and curl up for some love and belly scratches.  She’s very friendly and such a sweet size that she can be scooped up with one arm.

Good with Children: Loves kids!  She doesn’t puppy bite and hasn’t really jumped up either.

Good with Dogs: Yes! When there is a dog she wants to play with, she does a funny thing where she zips around him.  She likes to lay down in a puppy pile with her foster brothers.  When a dog isn’t minding his manners with her, she takes no baloney and sets him in his place.

Good with Cats: Yes. She was startled at the first site of the cat who walked by her (you can’t really blame her—the cat is bigger) and after a few sniffs, gives them a respectful space.

House-trained:  Getting there!  The first day she was with us, we thought she was some sort of miracle puppy who had no accidents.   She’s had a couple since, but they have been primarily by the door, so she’s trying.  When taken out regularly and immediately after being crated or fed, she’s really good.  She should be a quick learn.  We tried a Velcro female dog diaper and she promptly removed it, so she passed that IQ test with flying colors.

Crate trained: Yes.  Goes in just fine and calm about staying there.  Has spent most nights in a large crate in the master bedroom and when the people are away.

Activity Level:  Pretty calm for a puppy! She is playful, but not at all hyper.  She self-entertains very nicely, finding a comfy dog bed and a toy.  She will pick up shoes and bits from around the house, but has not actually chewed anything except some husks from an indoor palm tree.

Fence: A fence is always ideal but she is picking up the electric fence at the foster house and is a great leash-walker also.   Because of her smaller size, she could be a candidate for apartment or condo living.

Medical History: Zoli is fully vetted for her puppy stage and has been microchipped. She had an all-clear on her stools and was treated for an eye infection.  She’s on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. She will be spayed when she is over six months.  Some of her adult teeth are in, but she still has some puppy teeth. Zoli originates from Greece where Leishmaniasis is endemic. She was removed from Greece as a young puppy, so it is unlikely she would ever develop Leishmaniasis, but the parasite can remain dormant in the system for many years, so potential adopters must be willing to commit to annual testing for the next 7 years.  Typically, the test needs to be sent to a special lab, but any regular vet can draw the blood and send it to the lab.  The test typically costs $120-150

Adoption fee: $395.00
