ZETA AB#IN -18-114-7 – F, 5 Months

Name: Zeta

Gender: Female, spayed

Age: 5 months

Weight: 20 lbs

Size: Petite so far, but she is still so young. I'd imagine she won't top 40lbs

Breed: English Setter

Good with children: Yes, she is full of puppy energy but seems cautious in her play with people

Good with dogs: Yes, she is in a foster home with four other English Setters ages 1-8 years old, two male two female, and she gets along really well with all. She is a perfect mix of playful and sweet, just as quick to chase in play as to give puppy licks to her playmates.

Good with cats: Unknown but she hasn't shown much of a prey drive as of yet.

House trained: 1/2 way there! Still not house broken though, just having issue with peeing.

Crate trained: Yes, she sleeps all night in a crate and goes in willingly to nap when I have to leave the house for a few hours. Zeta can not be crated for longer than 3-4 hours without the opportunity for some vigorous exercise or running in the yard or fenced dog park.

Leash trained: She does well walking on a leash and loves to stick near her human companion.

Activity level: Perfect puppy playfulness! Not too exuberant and not too shy. Just as happy to be held in your arms as to romp around the yard. Loves to chase any ball or sit quietly chewing a stick. Zeta will not be a hunting buddy, and probably not a good choice as a running companion as though she runs fast in short bursts she’s petite and probably wouldn’t enjoy long runs. Zeta is not suited for apartment, condo or townhouse living.

Fence: Preferred. Zeta will thrive in a home with a fenced yard that will give her access to burn her puppy energy, because even though Zeta is happy to cuddle, she's still a puppy and they like to RUN, and she runs very fast! A home without a fence will be considered with the right exercise plan.

Training/Behavior: No formal training but I'm sure she will be a quick learner as she aims to please.

Medical History: Spayed. Will be before leaves foster home. Zeta originates from Greece where Leishmaniasis is endemic. She was removed from Greece as a puppy, so it is unlikely she would ever develop Leishmaniasis, but the parasite can remain dormant in the system for many years, so potential adopters must be willing to commit to annual testing for the next 7 years.  Typically, the test needs to be sent to a special lab, but any regular vet can draw the blood and send it to the lab.  The test typically costs $120-150.

Foster Comments: Thank goodness someone left Zeta and her sister Zoi in a cardboard box on someone's front porch in Greece hoping to get them to a better life! Zeta has only been here a few days but we are all absolutely smitten with her, humans and dogs alike! She is the sweetest little girl, and she is little! She will put her paws up on you asking to be held and then will snuggle right in once you pick her up. Often when she's tired she will find another dog to cuddle up to for a nap. She has no issues sharing toys, food, or affection. From the first night she has slept in her crate from 10:00pm to 6:30am when our house gets going for the day. Like most puppies Zeta thoroughly enjoys romping around the backyard chasing balls or the other dogs, chewing on sticks and pine cones, watching the bugs and birds, and checking in with her human companion. This is one sweet loving baby who just needs to find an adoring family to share her life with! Could that be you? 🙂

Adoption Fee: $395.00

Foster Location: Mooreville, NC
