Activity Level:  Speck’s mom was an English Setter & dad was unknown although most likely a heeler but definite a herding breed.  He is occasionally high energy but very sweet, smart, likes to snuggle, hike, & play with the other dogs. He enjoys being with his humans & foster dog siblings.  He loves to play fetch in the yard with a ball or toy & go hiking.

Fence:  Speck likes to go out and run so a fence is preferred. Daily walks needed since he needs exercise & continued socialization since he is so young.

Behavior:  Speck is a happy friendly boy who is a outgoing and curious but very sweet, gentle, and snuggly with people.  He likes brushing and will allow his nails to be trimmed.  He rides great in the car.  He can be a bit pushy on getting attention when he gets excited but he’s a quick learner & just wants to please so will sit & wait.  He likes to wrestle with his foster siblings.  He will bark at strangers on the walk but once he realizes they are no threat he is fine with them.  He still puppy chews on hands while playing but is learning gentle and doesn’t chew on anything he shouldn’t.

Medical History:  Healthy, up to date on shots & preventatives, neutered, & microchipped.

Foster Comments:  Speck is a super smart, silly, friendly, and happy boy.  He is a very sweet, gentle boy who enjoys human attention and is good with other dogs.  He has good manners although can be a bit pushy for attention & follows me everywhere.  He is in the house with 5 other dogs without incident.  He loves to go on walks and walks good.  He would be a great hiking partner.  His speckled hair is not long but it’s velvety soft.  He looks like he’s smiling all the time and has the ears & body of heeler.  I work from home and he keeps himself entertained all day with toys, bones, and naps.  He immediately wants to make friends with new dogs but is a bit too pushy with my senior dogs so they correct him with a growl & he understands.  Has never shown any aggression with the other 5 dogs in house even with food or bones although he does still eat in his crate.  He has never chewed anything he shouldn’t but there are toys & bones everwhere.  He has a super intelligent herding dog personality so very easy to train.  He knows sit & down and just wants to please his person and give a snuggle. He is house trained and still squats so he doesn’t mark.
