Size/Weight: He’s a great size at approximately 37 pounds and may get bigger as he’s still a pup

Color: white with black spots, with soft, silky black ears.

Breed: 100% pure adorableness! Smokey is a mixed breed, he has some bird dog in him because he sure is interested in the bunnies and squirrels on our daily walks. 

Good with Children: Yes, however he’s a puppy so he’s still learning not to jump on people.

Good with Dogs: Yes, he wants to chase and play all day long. 

Good with Cats: Yes, he’s interested in our kitties- who are very dog-savvy- but he’s young enough he should be able to be trained to leave them alone.

House trained: Smokey hasn’t had an accident in his crate or in the house since we’ve been fostering him. We take him out often and give him a treat every time he goes and that has been a great motivator. 

Crate trained: Yes, he sleeps quietly in his crate at night and while his foster parents work during the day.

Leash trained: For such a young pup, Smokey does remarkably well on a leash. He gets very excited when he sees his leash come out because he knows what that means!

Behavior: Smokey loves affection and attention and looks for every opportunity to give kisses. His first night with us he climbed into his foster dad’s lap for some tummy rubs. He’s always watching to make sure he doesn’t miss anything around him. He’s fascinated by everything in the house, I’m sure he was never indoors until he arrived at his foster home. Just like Goldie Locks, Smokey loves trying out the various dog beds around and seeing which one is “just right” for him. He’s fascinated with all the puppy toys and enjoys a good chew on a Nyla bone or a Kong stuffed with peanut butter and treats.

Activity Level: Very active and playful, a typical puppy. In the evening he likes to settle down on a dog bed next to his people.

Fence: Fence required, he’s too active and playful for just leash walks. 

Medical History: Smokey is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, on heartworm and flea/tick preventative and was treated for hookworms, whipworms and double ear infections.

Foster Comments: Smokey is one of the happiest and most loveable pups you’ll ever meet! He’s thrilled to see us when we get home from work, we feel like Rock Stars in his presence. Smokey seems very eager to please and will listen when we remind him, “no jumping”. He’s a smart dog and learns quickly what we want. Smokey is a very sweet boy who will make a wonderful addition to a lucky family.
