Activity Level:  Ranger aka Rus is an energetic boy that likes to hike & play outside but settles down once in the house.  He likes toys & bones to chew and will entertain himself.  He loves his hikes and since he’s a trained hunting dog he sees them as adventures to find birds & sniff all the outside smells.

Fence: Ranger prefers to be with his human & foster dog siblings but will occasionally run around the yard & since he’s high energy a fence is preferred although he is whistle trained.

Behavior: Ranger is a happy friendly boy who is a good combination of outgoing and curious but very sweet, gentle, and well mannered.  He found himself in rescue since he was trained as a hunting dog in SC but had issues with overheating.  Vets didn’t find any health issues & foster has seen no issues even though they hike twice a day but in warm weather he should be monitored & provided with plenty of water.  He is still a young boy & obsessed with birds so he is high energy outside but once in the house he is ready to relax and take a nap.  He will need exercise every day, continued socialization, and training.

Medical History: Healthy

Foster Comments:  Ranger is sweet gentle boy who doesn’t seem to be used to human attention.  He has good manners and doesn’t jump on people or other dogs.  He is in the house with 4 other big dogs and a small one.  He loves to go on walks hunting for birds and doesn’t pull hard but is still learning to heel.  He is a long legged tall skinny boy & was probably shaved since his hair is rather short but growing.  I work from home and he will lay under my desk with a toy or bone & entertain himself then take a nap.  He is submissive to the other dogs & has gradually made friends although he was originally a bit rough playing with the 25 lb dog at times.  He would be fine with kids since he’s very gentle or another dog to play with to keep him well socialized.
