PETROS- AB#IN18-114-9 – M, 7 Months

Foster dog name:  PETROS

Gender:  Male

Age:  ~7 months

Size/Weight:  ~25 lbs.

Color:  Black/white

Breed:  English Setter

Socialization/training:  Petros is a friendly, happy and handsome little guy.  He's still in the puppy stage and likes to do some chewing, so he needs to be enticed with toys/bones to redirect him from the inappropriate chewing.  He will sit before getting a treat and his food at breakfast/dinner time.   He rides very well in the car and jumps right in.

Good with Children:  There are no children in Petros's foster home, but he seems friendly with everyone and would probably be fine with children.

Good with Dogs:  Yes.  Petros has two foster siblings and he gets along fine with both.

Good with Cats:  Unknown, but he has not shown much of a prey drive as of yet.

House trained:  Yes, but does have an occasional accident now and then.

Crate trained:  Yes.  Petros is crated when I'm away from home for an extended amount of time.  He goes in pretty easily when a treat is thrown in.  If he doesn't go in on his own he is easily put in and settles quickly.

Leash trained:  Petros does very well walking on a leash.  We have had squirrels cross in front of us and he doesn't pay too much attention to them and keeps on strolling.

Activity Level:   Moderate.  Petros is a pretty mild mannered pup with some spurts of puppy madness on occasion.  He loves to play and run with his foster fur sister until both of their tongues are hanging out.

Fence:   A physical fence would be the ideal situation for him, but I would consider a foster home that would commit to daily multiple walks and/or daily dog park visits.

Behavior:   Petros has been a well behaved little guy.  He's a typical puppy and does have his puppy moments, but overall has not been off the wall bouncing crazy.  He does get going in the house with his two foster siblings every once in awhile.  I let him have free roam at night when we go to bed.  It seems like he'd rather sleep on the floor or the couch and always has that tail wagging when I get up.

Medical History:  Petros has been neutered, UTD on all vaccinations, and is on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

Petros originates from Greece where Leishmaniasis is endemic.  He was removed from Greece as a puppy, so it is unlikely he would ever develop Leishmaniasis, but the parasite can remain dormant in the system for many years, so potential adopters must be willing to commit to annual testing for the next 7 years.  Typically, the test needs to be sent to a special lab, but any regular vet can draw the blood and send it to the lab.  The test typically costs $120-150.

Foster Comments:   Petros is a sweet and happy little guy.  He gets along with other dogs , loves chasing bugs at night, chewing on toys/bones and being with his people.  He loves to play with his foster sister so I would like to find him a home with another fur sibling(s) to play with.  He will melt your heart and a sweet boy that will make a great addition to someone’s family.

Adoption Fee: $395.00

Foster Location:  Hamilton, OH
