Behavior: Mickey loves his humans, likes to stick close & be a tripping hazard

Fence:  Probably not after getting used to his person.  He loves to hang close.

Medical History: Up to date on all shots, neutered, HW- and healthy. Good weight

Foster Comments:  Mickey was turned into a shelter in KY with 2 setters with the comment ‘No hunt’ for the reason he was being relinquished.  He’s trying to figure his role in life, looking to his trusted human to try to direct him.  He wags & greets everyone but especially likes men.  It’s unknown if he’s been de-barked but he hasn’t barked in 2 weeks in his foster home despite oil delivery and the 3 resident dogs sounding off on a daily basis at whatever.  He rarely even whimpers about anything.  His safe space is his crate & for the first few days, he didn’t even want to go out in the fenced yard unless led out by hand or on leash.  He has no food aggression, deferring to the resident dogs if they want to help with his food bowl.  He doesn’t really have a concept of personal space, just flops next to the resident male who doesn’t care much.

Mickey is great in the car.  He thinks it’s an adventure & just hangs out tethered in the back.  He helped his foster mom do a home visit for a potential foster home and just loved the whole game.  ‘Look, this man is showing me around his house & talking me for a neat walk’.  Initially just playing with sticks in the yard, Mickey is learning to fetch stuffed animals & carry them proudly around for tossing.  He plays well with the resident hounds, chasing or being chased depending on the role they assign him.

A lot of things are new for Mickey and he’d love to show his people how well he’d shine if given TLC.  Easy foster because he just goes into his crate for R&R and naps.  This youngster needs attention and direction and to be shown his role in life.  In the meantime, he’ll look at you with ‘What’s next?’ in his eyes and accept direction readily.
