MARLEY

MARLEY ABIN#19-210- M, 3 Years

Foster dog name:  Marley

Gender: Male

Age:  3

Size/Weight:    40# but still needs to put on a few pounds

Color:  Blue Belton

Breed:  English Setter

Socialization/training:  Marley has had no formal training as he was a street dog. He is quick to learn and has learned the “no” command, working on the come command and name recognition

Good with Children:  Has been exposed to my 3 year old niece and done well but uncertain.  So possibly better with older children.

Good with Dogs:  Marley should be an only dog. He is truly a loving boy but has issues of possession issues with toys and food aggressiveness [which he is now much better with]

Good with Cats:  No

House trained: Yes no accidents

Crate trained: We have not used a crate, and he is very good in the house. Given his toys he is happy and no need for a crate

Leash trained: Working on leash training. Some days better than others [pulls]

Activity Level:  Very playful. Loves barking at the birds and squirrels. Loves running in the yard and enjoying the days. Very energetic but loves to sit on couch and give love

Fence: We have a fenced in yard running between 6 and 4 feet tall. He has made no effort to try to escape

Behavior:   Marley is one of the most loving dogs I have had the pleasure of being with. While cooking dinner he lays on the kitchen floor and totally behaves. When he first came to us he was a bit of a counter surfer but has since been taught this behavior is unacceptable.

Medical History:  Marley is UTD on vaccinations, flea and tick, and heartworm preventatives.  He is microchipped and neutered.   Marley is from Greece where Leishmaniasis is endemic. He has tested negative, but the parasite can remain dormant in the system. Potential adopters must be willing to commit to annual testing for the next 7 years. Your vet can draw the blood and send it to the lab. The test typically costs $120-150 but varies from vet to vet.

Foster Comments: Marley is a very beautiful dog and a great personality. He is possessive of his foster parents and wants to be with you and give love all the time. Had he not had issues with my current resident setter he would be a permanent resident here. The person adopting Marley will be very lucky.

Adoption Fee:  $300 for adults 1 – 6 years old

Foster Location:  New Britain CT

Volunteer transport can be arranged in the Continental US within a 1,000 mile distance between adopters & foster home. Typically, we are able to transport your adopted dog to within 2 hours of your home. *Dogs can be adopted outside the 1000 mile transport distance; however, adopters must be willing to either fly their adopted dog, drive to a location within the 1000 mile transport range, or make independent transport arrangements for their adopted dog. Transports to far West states, from Eastern states, may have additional restrictions.
