Lucy AB#IN 18-070-4 – F, 9 Months

Foster dog:  Lucy  AB#IN 18-070-4

Gender: female

Age: 9 months (DOB 10-11-17)

Size:  28 lbs

Color: orange and white

Breed: English Setter

Socialization/training: Lucy is friendly but slow to warm up. She can be timid outside of the home with people and dogs. She needs training on the leash, commands, and manners. She is so excited right now that she has trouble  concentrating. Her recall is not always consistent but she always has a smile on her face.

Good with children: yes, but she may jump up

Good with dogs: yes, she respects her place in the pack.  She is shy around new dogs.

Good with cats: yes, she wants to play, the cat does not.

House trained: yes

Crate trained: yes, she falls right to sleep whenever she goes in.

Leash trained: yes, but needs work-she can get distracted.

Activity level:   Active. Lucy loves to run and play inside and outside.

Fence: Physical fence a must!

Behavior:  Lucy is happy, inquisitive, active, and alert.  She is loving and sweet. She will cuddle at the end of a busy day.

Medical History:   UTD with vaccines, she will be spayed soon. Lucy originates from Greece where Leishmaniasis is endemic. She was removed from Greece as a young puppy, so it is unlikely she would ever develop Leishmaniasis, but the parasite can remain dormant in the system for many years, so potential adopters must be willing to commit to annual testing for the next 7 years.  Typically, the test needs to be sent to a special lab, but any regular vet can draw the blood and send it to the lab.  The test typically costs $120-150

Foster comments: Lucy is a happy go lucky girl who seems to be smiling most of the time.  She can be shy at first meeting outside of the home, but once she knows you, she is friendly and playful.  She loves to play with toys and is learning to play "fetch", but her favorite part is pouncing on the ball. Lucy likes to watch the birds and anything that moves catches her eye. She enjoys exploring. She needs help with her manners- her 'joy of life' means she might forget them for a minute or two.  She plays on the swing set- climbing up the moving stairs and crossing the swinging bridge- so she might be good at agility training.

Lucy would love to give you sweet puppy kisses and bring her enthusiasm for life to your house!

Adoption fee: $395.00
