LATTE AB#18-142-4 – M, 3 1/2 Months

LATTE AB#18-142-4 – M, 3 1/2 Months

Foster dog name: Latte

Gender: male

Age: born around August 15, 2018

Size/Weight: 14.2 lbs on Nov. 14, and growing! He’s the smallest of the puppies, we think he may be 35-40 lbs when fully grown.

Color: Shades of light brown and dark brown, with ribbons of white.  His white areas are covered in brown freckles.

Breed: springer spaniel mix.  Dad is unknown.  Mom is Honey, also being fostered with Above and Beyond Rescue.

Good with Children: Untested, but puppies and kids go together 😉

Good with Dogs: He likes playing with his siblings, and loves running up to the big dogs to give them kisses.  He is not rough with the big dogs, but he does insist on giving them kisses even after they say “no”.

Good with Cats: Untested.

House trained: He waits to go #2 outside.  He sometimes sits at the back door waiting, or sometimes whines if you are outside the room, but usually just holds it.  He may go #1 inside if you are not watching him closely.

Crate trained: Yes for #2’s.  No for #1’s.

Leash trained: He hasn’t had much practice since he’s not fully vaccinated.

Behavior: Latte loves to cuddle and snuggle with humans, and will nuzzle close to your neck as much as possible.  He’s generally very sweet and calm with humans, and tries to give kisses to the bigger dogs.  Latte loves to sit in laps almost as much as his brother, Starbuck.  He loves to run and play with his siblings and play with toys.  He may follow you around and wait for cuddling, and if he gets impatient he will try biting and grabbing pant-legs.  His foster parents are working on stopping that bad habit.  He is normally quiet, but protests loudly with whining if you leave him when he still wants to cuddle or play with you.  He likes to play fetch, but does not like competing with his siblings for the ball.

Activity Level: Latte is a typical puppy and has large amounts of energy for 1-2 hours, followed by 2-3 hours of napping.  When it comes to humans, he will greet you with a ton of energy.  After a few minutes of excited puppy kisses and wiggling, he will go play with his siblings or toys, or settle down in your lap to get cuddles.

Fence:  As a puppy, Latte is going to need a fence or a vigorous daily run for the first 1-2 years of his life.  He does a normal amount of running for a puppy.

Medical History: Honey’s 4 puppies (Latte included) were rescued from Kentucky, arriving at their home on October 20.  Not much is known about their history; Latte was healthy weight and energy at his last vet visit.

Foster Comments:  Latte is very treat motivated.  He knows “sit”, “no”, but we’re still working on “come here puppy!”  He does a pretty good job of waiting for treats, unless Starbuck starts bouncing.  Then he will start bouncing, too.
