IVANHOE (aka MANGO)

IVANHOE (aka MANGO) ABIN#18-156-3 – F, 5 Months

Foster dog call name: Mango

Gender: female

Age: ~5 months (approx. DOB July 2018)
Size/Weight: ~25 lbs (and growing daily)

Color: Orange & White

Breed: English Setter Mix (looks like a Brittany setter)

Good with Children: Mango has no small children in her foster home, but met a well behaved 4 year old. She loved chasing and kissing him.  Mango is energetic and loves to run and play outside with everyone.

Good with Dogs: Yes. Mango is in a house with two resident dogs and her litter mate. She loves the resident female and they play constantly.

Good with Cats: Unknown, but she is a young puppy and may learn to live with cats.

House trained: Mango is housetrained and will go to the door when she wants to go out to potty.   She has never had an accident in the crate overnight or while we are at work.

Crate trained: Yes.  Mango will go in the crate at meal time to eat and sometimes when she feels like a nap.  She is quiet overnight and barks when she wakes up around 5:30 a.m.  .  She loves to drag her bed out of the crate and chew on it.

Leash trained: not leash trained.

Activity Level: typical puppy….play hard – sleep frequently

Fence: Preferred.  A fenced yard is always preferred but not necessary.

Training/Behavior: Mango has been with her foster for over two weeks and would benefit from the training and bonding from an obedience class. She is a little shy at 1st, a quick leaner and will benefit from a consistent routine. She chews on things: carpet, chairs, wicker baskets, like a typical puppy.   Setters pups keep the chewing behavior for a few years.    She is nosy and likes to counter surf.   A physical redirect is required.   Mango is a bit shy but is very friendly and loves everyone.  She is a very happy and social puppy.

Medical History: Mango is a healthy pup and up to date on all vaccines.   Mango will need to be spayed in the middle of December. She is from Santorini Island where Leishmaniasis is endemic. She was found in a landfill with her litter mates as a young puppy and tested negative.   But the parasite can remain dormant in the system, so potential adopters must be willing to commit to annual testing for the next 7 years.  Your vet can draw the blood and send it to the lab.  The test typically costs $120-150.

Foster Comments:  Mango is a sweet, loving pup. She gets along great with everyone she meets.   She is a bit shy at times and sometimes is treat motivated.   She would sleep with us all night, but there isn’t enough room for her. She is quite the sweetheart, will fall asleep in your lap.    Mango is cute as a button and charming as can be.

Adoption Fee: $395.00
