IRIS (aka TANGO)

IRIS (aka TANGO) ABIN#18-156-1 – F, 5 Months

Foster dog call name:Tango

Gender: female

Age: ~5 months (approx. DOB July 2018)
Size/Weight: ~28 lbs (and growing daily)

Color: Blue & White

Breed: English Setter Mix (looks like and acts like a setter)

Good with Children: Tango has no small children in her foster home,  but met a well behaved 4 year old. She loved chasing and kissing him.  Tango is energetic and loves to run and play outside with everyone.

Good with Dogs: Yes. Tango is in a house with two resident dogs and her litter mate. She loves the resident female and they play constantly.

Good with Cats: Unknown, but she is a young puppy and may learn to live with cats.

House trained: Tango is housetrained and will go to the door and ring the bells when she wants to go out to potty.   She has never had an accident in the crate overnight or while we are at work.

Crate trained: Yes.  Tango will go into  the crate at meal time to eat and sometimes when she feels like a nap.  She is quiet overnight and barks when she wakes up around 5:30 a.m.

Leash trained: not leash trained.

Activity Level: typical puppy….play hard – sleep often

Fence: Preferred.  A fenced yard is always preferred but not necessary.

Training/Behavior: Tango has been with her foster for over two weeks and would benefit from the training and bonding of an obedience class. She is a very quick leaner and will need someone that can be consistent and the leader. She chews on things: carpet, leather chair, & wicker basket like a typical puppy.   Setters pups keep the chewing behavior for a few years.    She is nosy and likes to counter surf.   A physical redirect is required.   Tango is very friendly and loves everyone.  She is a very happy and social puppy.

Medical History: Tango is a healthy pup and up to date on all vaccines.   Tango will need to be spayed in the middle of December. She is from Santorini Island where Leishmaniasis is endemic. She was found in a landfill with her litter mates as a young puppy and tested negative.   But the parasite can remain dormant in the system, so potential adopters must be willing to commit to annual testing for the next 7 years.  Your vet can draw the blood and send it to the lab.  The test typically costs $120-150.

Foster Comments: Tango is a sweet, loving pup. She gets along great with everyone she meets.   She is a really quick learner and sometimes is treat motivated.   She would sleep with us all night, but there isn’t enough room for her. She is quite the sweetheart, will fall asleep in your lap.    Tango is cute as a button and charming as can be.

Adoption Fee: $395.00
