FIONA

FIONA AB#19-195 – F, 1 Year

Foster dog name: Fiona AB19-195

Gender: Female

Age: 1 year

Size/Weight: 38#

Color: White with a little black spots

Breed: English SetterX

Good with Children: She is very active and playful and would knock over small children. As long as the child can handle her, she will love to play with kids. If a child is walking around with food or a toy, Fiona will try to steal it, so she needs training and she would be best with older children older than six.

Good with Dogs: Yes, she has been with all sizes and ages of dogs. She Likes to play rough.   We have 5 dogs including a yorkie, morkie, Dachshund, and a Great  Pyrenees.  We’ve also hosted 2 other dogs  overnight for a night

Good with Cats: We have two cats and Fiona doesn’t mind cats but may try to play with them

House trained: not all the way…needs patience and someone that can get her on a schedule.  She’s still very much a puppy in that she can pee and poop outside and then come in and pee a river on the couch next to you.  she poops in the same spot usually if she doesn't get out. She doesn't give any indication of needing to go out yet as there is still too much puppy in her to have come up with a signal that she needs to go,

Crate trained: yes   We kennel each and every dog at night so they have their own safe private space.  She doesn't go potty in her kennel.  When we are not home she and the Dachshund are left in the dog room...they like to play rough together.

Leash trained: learning, still needs a lot of training.  She is very strong and pulls hard. She is usually on the lead to go potty.

Behavior: Fiona is still a puppy!  She needs training and patience because she has a lot of energy to burn. She is smart and trying to learn but the puppy in her is still dominant.  She’s a jumper, toy and food stealer.  She’s affectionate when she wants to be.  When she wants to cuddle she is all over you!  She zooms around outside and comes inside and zooms some more.  She will settle down for about ten minutes every once in a while, but is good in her kennel at night

Activity Level: very, very active and strong.  On a leash she could pull you over, and she does jump up on people.  To reiterate, she needs TRAINING and TIME.

Fence: Fence is required. She needs room to run off energy.  Because she is so active, we keep an eye on her all the time and we haven’t given her the opportunity to dig under or jump over a fence.  We don’t know so we can’t rule it out.

Medical History:  Fiona is spayed, UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and on Heartworm Preventative

Foster Comments: She is super sweet and will be very loving. I recommend a professional trainer and a lot of patience. She needs playmates, so another dog in the home, doggie day care, dog parks or plans for her socialization and opportunities for her to burn off her abundant energy are needed to help wear her out.
