CLIO AB#18-024-1 – F, 10 months

Gender: Female

Age: 10 months (DOB 11/15/17)

Size: 32.6 pounds

Color: White and Black

Breed: English Setter Mix

Sweet Clio cannot figure out why she is still waiting for her forever home. Her sister Styx found a wonderful forever home and Clio thinks it is about time she got her very own wonderful forever home too! Isn't that what every lovely little girl wants and deserves? Where she can be loved for the special girl that she is

Clio is full of playful puppy energy.  She is adventurous and exuberant. She is great with our granddaughters (we have no children living at our home). Clio also loves to play with other dogs and frequently plays with our 5 year old.
Clio  is housebroken and crate trained. She enjoys just hanging out in her crate, too!

Socialization: Clio lives in her foster home with two Brittanys. She loves to play and romp with everyone. She loves her foster brothers very much and hopes her new home might have a fur sibling to pal around with.

Good with Children: There are no children in Clio’s foster home, however, she gets along with everyone, including other people and dogs who come to visit. We feel positive she would do well with children, although should be watched with smaller children. She is still a puppy herself.

Good with Dogs: Yes, Clio loves other dogs. She is very friendly and enjoys playing and cuddling with her foster brothers.

Good with Cats: Unknown. There are no cats in Clio’s foster home. With proper introduction, she may do fine. The world (and all the critters in it) is her playground.

House trained: Yes, Clio is house trained. Aside from a couple of accidents during her first days, she goes outside to potty and keeps her crate clean.

Crate trained: Yes. Clio will enter her crate on command and spends her nights there. She also willingly enters her crate when it is time for us to leave the house. She does love to sleep on the couch at night.

Leash trained: Moderate. Clio has a large backyard and spends her days running and playing. The few times she has been on leash she has not resisted and has learned fairly quickly what is expected of her. We’re confident that with some leash walking, she’ll be a gem.

Activity level: Moderate. As much as Clio loves playing and running in the yard, she settles down quickly when she comes inside. She loves evenings cuddling on the couch with her siblings and foster parents.

Fence: Preferred. Clio has been with us a month. She did manage to find a hole in the fence to go exploring. Our fence is 6’ in some areas, 4’ in others. She respects the fence line and is learning her boundaries. She is curious and adventurous. She is an avid hunter and has rid our property of squirrels and moles.

Training/Behavior: Clio has been with us for approximately a month and has learned to sit and wait for treats. She comes when called, but not consistently, and responds to a whistle. She is quick to go in her kennel on command and settles down immediately once inside. She will counter surf, given the chance, and loves to steal an occasional shoe, but doesn’t chew or destroy them. The thrill is in the chase!

Medical History: Clio is UTD on all vaccinations and is on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. She has not yet been spayed as she is too young. Clio originates from Greece where Leishmaniasis is endemic. She was removed from Greece as a young puppy, so it is unlikely she would ever develop Leishmaniasis, but the parasite can remain dormant in the system for many years, so potential adopters must be willing to commit to annual testing for the next 7 years.  Typically, the test needs to be sent to a special lab, but any regular vet can draw the blood and send it to the lab.  The test typically costs $120-150.

Adoption Fee: 300.00

Dog Location: Eugene, Oregon

Volunteer transport can be arranged in the Continental US within a 1,000 mile distance between adopters & foster home. Typically, we are able to transport your adopted dog to within 2 hours of your home. *Dogs can be adopted outside the 1000 mile transport distance; however, adopters must be willing to either fly their adopted dog, drive to a location within the 1000 mile transport range, or make independent transport arrangements for their adopted dog.
