CANDICE

Candice ABIN#19-001 – F, 3 Years

Foster dog name:   Candice

Gender:  Female

Age:  Approx. 3 yrs

Size/Weight:  Approx 19” to shoulder/33.8 lbs

Color:  Tri Color

Breed:  English Setter

Socialization/training: Very Social.  Goes to the dog park daily.

Good with Children:  Yes

Good with Dogs:  Yes

Good with Cats: Unknown but would suspect not.

House trained:  Yes

Crate trained:  Yes.

Leash trained:  Walks well on a leash/doesn’t pull.

Activity Level:  Candice is very birdy/anything that flies!  She will spend hours in the yard searching out all things that fly.  She also loves toys, especially carrying them out to the yard and tossing them around.  At the dog park she is very playful with small dogs.  She also loves to toss a ball around.  The only thing that upsets her is another dog taking too long to sniff her hind quarters, especially non-neutered male dogs! (can’t blame her!)

Fence:  A 6’ fenced yard is advised.  She can jump pretty high.  She would enjoy walks but would do best with lots of room to run freely.  She very much enjoys being outdoors and can entertain herself for hours.  Not invisible fence trained to my knowledge.

Behavior:   Candice has a very independent side and a playful side.  Indoors she is laid back and a cuddler.  She’s attentive if she’s not outside searching for birds and bugs.

Medical History:  Candice had seven puppies in January.  She was positive for heartworm but has been treated and doing well.  She is currently on a heartworm preventative but will need to be retested in June regarding her previous condition. Because she is from Greece where Leishmaniasis is endemic he was tested negative, but the parasite can remain dormant in the system. Potential adopters must be willing to commit to annual testing for the next 7 years. Your vet can draw the blood and send it to a lab. The test typically costs $120-150 but varies from vet to vet.

Foster Comments: Candice was rescued from a gutter in Greece with her seven week-old pups.

She is strikingly beautiful and has a super silky-soft coat.  She is very active and very birdy.  She would do best in a large fenced yard or trained for off leash.  She may enjoy agility as she is quick and can jump with ease.  She is a bit submissive around big dogs.  She loves people and attention.  She rides extremely well in the car.  She jumps right in, moves back from the hatch and lays down.  She also rides in the back seat well, just lays down.

Adoption Fee: $300.00

Foster Location:  She is located in Florence, Arizona which is halfway between Phoenix and Tucson.
