AUGGIE

AUGGIE AB#18 -134 – F, 2 Years

Foster dog name: Auggie

Gender: Female

Age: Approximately 2 years

Size/Weight: 35 pounds

Color: White and Orange

Breed: English Setter Blend

Good with Children: Yes, adores children

Good with Dogs: Yes, loves all dogs. Is not dominant, is not submissive, is just carefree and wants to be friends and play

Good with Cats: yes, does not chase or bother at all

House trained: yes (though on a doggie door so there will be a learning curve but will be easy)

Crate trained: Does not like to be crated, but she does ok with it.

Leash trained: She doesn’t pull but can tend to walk all over the place at first, mostly out of excitement and then settles in well.

Behavior: Auggie has the sweetest personality.  She loves cuddles and craves attention, but when she has had enough, she will go and lay down by herself or play with a toy or one of the dogs. She will lay with you for ever as long as she is having her belly rubbed or her ears scratched.

Activity Level: Auggie is very laid back. She is not a dominant dog, at all. She is also not submissive. All she cares about is meeting new friends and playing with them – human or furry friends. She loves to play with her Brittany foster sister. That usually consists of wrestling around on the floor or playing chase. She loves to go to the dog park and just run and run with the other dogs there. She has three favorite toys when she is playing alone: 1. Snake 2. Ball 3. Antler They will all be included in her adoption.

Fence:  I would recommend a fenced yard, but it is not required as long as the family is committed to at least walking her every day or if she has another furry friend to play with. She is young and active. She gets very excited when the leash comes out to go for a walk. She would also make a good running/hiking companion for anyone who is more active.

Medical History: Auggie came in to foster Heartworm positive. She has completed her treatment and is 100% heartworm free and ready to find her loving home. She is also spayed and up-to-date on all her vaccinations. She has also been vaccinated for Lyme disease and is on monthly heartworm preventative. She is microchipped.

Foster Comments:  Auggie is a true joy and has been a wonderful addition to my home. My Brittany adores her. They have a similar play style which is run and chase or roll around on the floor growling at each other.  Auggie doesn’t even mind getting bossed around by my bossy cocker spaniel. She just ignores his attitude.

Auggie is very gentle and would be an amazing companion for young children. She is energetic but it is a controlled energy so I have no worries that she would barrel over a young child.

Auggie is a perfect size, coming in at only 35 pounds which will make her versatile for living situations. She will do fine in an apartment, townhome or condo as long as the new home is committed to walking/running her daily for exercise.

Auggie’s temperment will allow her to easily transition to a new home. She is young, loving, gentle, laid-back, and very smart. She loves the company of other dogs, but is also just as happy getting all the cuddles and love to herself.
