AMOS AB#18-103-5 – M, 4 Years

Foster dog name: Amos
Gender:M, neutered
Age: 4
Size/Weight: 50lbs
Color:orange and white
Breed: English setter

Good with Children: Amos has a lot of energy so it would be best for him to go to a home with older children.  12 years and up
Good with Dogs: yes
Good with Cats: unknown
House trained: yes
Crate trained: yes, althoughAmos would prefer not to be crated but he will go into the crate for a treat.  He will bark for a few minutes and then be quiet.
Leash trained: kinda. Does pull, so needs additional training

Behavior: loves to cuddle. he wants to sit on my lap like a little pup. would make a great running buddy with little training Amos has a needy side and an independent side.  He was supposedly trained to be a hunting dog.  He does love to watch the birds and tries to catch butterflies.  When he is in the yard, he will run and look for anything that moves in the air.  He will bark if he hears another dog in a neighboring yard.  When I call him, he comes running.  In the house he likes to be near his people.  He doesn’t get on chairs or sofas but will lie down on a dog bed or the floor.  He seems to prefer the floor as it is cooler.  He is learning not to jump up on people and the sit command.

Activity Level:high energy
Amos is a silly goof when it comes to playing with toys.  He gets so excited and runs around like he doesn’t know what to do.  And maybe he never played with toys before.  He will sometimes bring the toy back but most times will just come back with a big silly grin.  He likes to be outside and run around or lay on the deck by my chair.

Fence: absolutely required

Medical History:neutered all shots up to date and current on heart worm Prevention

Foster Comments: Amos has a lot of energy. If you have never had a dog he is not for you. if you have had a high energy setter in the past he is it. he loves his human enough to listen. he does not realize his size and thinks he can jump on people ,  which I am working on. he will be a great addition to any active person's life
.He craves attention but is learning that he’s not the only dog in the house and has to share.  He loves to be petted and given belly rubs.  He is allowed on the bed, but knows to stay off the sofa and chairs.  He may try to dominate small children, so a family with older children is best for Amos.
