From Ace's foster mom: If I were playing poker, I would not bet that Ace is one-hundred-percent Springer, but I would bet that anyone who adopts Ace will be a winner!

Ace has a pretty unusual story with a bit of mystery and drama. He was turned over to ESRA through the Nebraska Humane Society after a long ordeal. Everyone he met in the shelters fell in love with him and vouched for his good character and behavior. We immediately fell in love with him, too. Ace is sweet and well behaved. He seems to have had some obedience training. He knows basic commands and walks with a perfect heel like a gentleman.

This good-looking boy is probably a Springer/setter cross. Ace's face is all Springer, but his body and size are more like a bench English setter. It is funny to watch him wiggle his big ol' body like a Springer! It makes me giggle every time he does it. He loves to sit on my husband's lap when he is watching TV in his recliner. Ace puts his head on his foster dad's shoulder while his body stretches down to the footrest. His tail fits between my husband's boots, and then that beautiful tail starts wagging like a Springer's docked tail with a steady thump, thump, thump. It is a picture of pure happiness!

Ace gets along well with our resident male and female Springers. He can play a little roughly due to his size. The other dogs let him know when he has gone too far, and Ace then tones it down. He could be the top dog of the pack, but he accepts the role assigned to him by our resident male.

Ace needs daily exercise. It is easy to walk with him, and he is a beauty in the field off leash. Ace loves to chase birds and nose about for small creatures. When he is in the field, he comes when he's called (although not always at the exact moment you call him).

Treats are a great motivator for Ace. He knows exactly when you are headed for the treat jar, and he places himself in front of you just in case you might forget him. He knows his mealtimes, too. If you forget, he will do a little dance, and if that doesn't do the trick, he will bark.

Ace rides well in the car, is invisible-fence trained, walks perfectly on a leash, and seems to know basic commands. He can be left alone in the house without accidents. Our groomer fell in love with him as he was so well behaved for her. We do not know how he would be with cats.

Ace does react when he hears a siren on TV or in real life. He barks and gets excited. We tell him it is okay and he is good with that. In fact, he is good with most things in life. This is a very special boy who will be a great addition to a lucky family.
