Foster Comments:  Jameson is a happy, handsome dog.  He was purchased as a six-week old puppy and spent his first four years in a loving home.  Unfortunately, he was being bullied by another dog, which was causing a lot of anxiety.  The owner asked A&B to find a home for him where he could be at ease.  Since arriving at his foster, he’s relaxed a lot. It took him a few days to warm up, so his new home should expect the same.

Jameson is a big fella with super long legs!  If you promised your kid a dog and a pony, he might cover all bases.  Don’t tell him, but he’s a little on the heavy side; he’ll be slimming down a bit for spring.  He’s very handsome and has super soft fur.  Pearly white teeth!  And bonus—you don’t have to bend down to leash him up!

Jameson is a little unsure of himself and doesn’t take criticism well.  When he got a squirt with the water bottle as a correction, he crawled under a chair and wouldn’t look at anyone for twenty minutes.  His new home should expect to give him some time to warm up and use “I statements” when there are disagreements.

Jameson’s personality is friendly, happy, submissive, and slightly apprehensive.  He took a few days to warm up at the foster home.  Then he decided to sleep at the end of the bed.  He’s not a clingy dog, but he does like to know where the people are.  He’ll usually park in a spot where he can see what’s going on.  He’s been a great home office dog.  He sits on command, but walks the other direction suspiciously when you tell him to “come” and follows you when you say, “stay.”  Either just switch those two around in your head or continue to work on commands.

Good with Children:  Yes.  No kids in his previous home and has done well with medium and large kids at foster home.  Little kids would be new to him and he would probably cause some tears with his love of shaking the pudding out of stuffed animals.  Jameson is happiest when the teenage boy is around!  He LOVES the teenage boy and can’t get enough of him.

Good with Dogs:  Yes.  Jameson left his previous home because he was being bullied by another resident dog, but he was not the instigator.  At the foster home, he has gotten along well with the two resident dogs with absolutely no issues.  After a few days, they started to play together.  When playing 500 with a tennis ball, all three scored zero letting it drop between them, so hats off to submissive dogs who aren’t ball hogs.  He would be fine with a home with another dog, but let’s make sure it’s another non-alpha so we don’t recreate a bullying situation.

Good with Cats:  Yes.  Foster home is his first interaction with cats and it’s gone surprisingly well.  Though he’s had a high prey drive in the yard, so far, he’s been a gently giant with the cats and jumped back appropriately when was corrected for sniffing the interesting end.  He is now slightly afraid of the cat, not unlike the rest of us.

House-trained:  Yes.  He has marked a couple times and then went to hide, so guessing he knew that was not cool.  He did have the decency to avoid carpet.  He makes little vocalizations when he has to go out and stands by the door, so unless you don’t look up from you the TikTok video you’re making, that’s pretty clear.  All homes adopting dogs should expect some accidents upon arrival.

Crate-trained:  Yes.  Jameson had free roam at his previous home, but gets crated for now at foster home when alone and at night.  Goes in fine when we point that direction.  Barks a bit when he thinks everyone is gone, but not as much after the first few days.

Leash-Trained:  Yes, Jameson can pull at times, but he’s not too bad on walks.  Some dogs can be rollerbladed with and some dogs are Jameson.  Since he’s built like a small semi, he’s not going to be a good candidate for anyone not fleet of foot.  He would probably be a fine running companion with a harness.

Activity Level:  Medium-low.  Jameson is very relaxed in the house.  He enjoys bird-TV at the deck doors.  He likes to play with stuffed squeaky toys.  He watches dogs and people go by and doesn’t often bark, though the jerks at his foster home are trying to teach him their bad conference call manners.

Fence: A fence is always ideal with a bird dog. At his previous home, Jameson was trained on an electric fence and had the run of an acreage.  He has not been tested for fence-jumping.  Because of his size and not loving being left home alone, he’s not going to be an ideal apartment dog.  He believes he can hear small mammals below the frost line and two feet of snow; he is hilarious to watch pounce and then nose down to find what surely must be under there.  I’m not saying he’s wrong, I’m just saying it’s cold and I’ll like to go inside now.

Medical History:  Jameson has a clean bill of health.  He is neutered, microchipped, and came into rescue fully vetted.
