AVA AB#17-186

Gender: FEMALE
Age: 5 YEARS
Weight: 45 AND GAINING!!
Color: TRI
Breed: ENGLISH SETTER

Good with Children: Unknown. I do not have small children but my guess would be yes, but I would go with over 8yrs old since she has not been around toddlers.
Good with Dogs: yes all sizes
Good with Cats: yes but will chase if they run outside
House trained: work in progress but doing well
Crate trained: yes
Leash trained: doing better. She does not pull just never been on one so gets wrapped up!

Behavior: SWEET, SWEET GIRL. Quiet, a little shy of new things but loves to give hugs.

Activity Level: Quiet and shy about new things. Ava was raised as a kennel dog but is adapting very quickly to home life! She is now jogging and walking with her tail up like a happy dog. She loves to lay around and is learning what all the new indoor noises like a tv is. We leave her crate door open so she can go in to her safe place to get away when she feels overwhelmed. She is starting to stay out with us more now!

Fence: Ava’s activity level is quiet enough that she would be fine with frequent leash walks. She would love a dog park with a fence to run in occasionally though!

Medical History: Ava is up to date on vaccines, spayed, microchipped and on heartworm/flea meds. She is on some ear medication for slight ear infection in both ears. I would say she has typical setter ears that need routine cleaning when bathed. When she got here she had a bad infection in her uterus called Pyometra. She was spayed and put on antibiotics, had an umbilical hernia repaired and is doing very well now.

Foster Comments: Someone had better snatch this girl up quick! I am close to a foster fail (keeping her)!

Ava is coming out of her shell and learning what a home with lots of love and attention are. She is soaking it all up and getting some bounce to her step!

She will occasionally cower at new things especially noises like the tv, raised voice to call a dog or horse, someone dropping something, etc. Keep in mind, all this is new and she must learn what it all is!

She is very smart and is learning fast, so I have no doubt she is going to turn out to be the best english setter you have ever owned! As I was about to send Ava’s bio she decided to find her voice to alert me to a sound outside!

This precious girl is making giant steps forward. She recognizes are name now and will come when called!
