SADIE

SADIE AB#19-255- F, 9 Years

Name: Sadie
Gender: Female
Age: a young 9 year old!
Size/wt: a petite 31 lbs
Color: red
Breed: Irish Setter (field variety Irish, sometimes also called a Red Setter)
Good with children: yes, enjoys the company of kids
Good with other dogs: mostly; she can be bossy and has growled at puppy in foster home and also growled at some of the resident dogs but they do not respond and she gets along well with all of them-she is a sweet dog and I think probably  lived her entire life in the home that gave her up and so this has been a stressful time for her
Good with cats: yes, with proper introductions and needs a dog savvy cat. She has even warmed up to the cat-still chases him but doesn’t hurt him
House trained: absolutely
Crate trained: she is out in house when foster mom gone (well, upstairs but has the entire upstairs) and sleeps in bedroom so she hasn’t been crated here in foster home
Leash trained: yes and has a very pretty leash and matching collar and purple EZ Walk harness that go with her when adopted. She loves walks!
Medical: UTD on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, and on HW preventative.  She has some age-related vision issues which will need to be monitored as she ages.
Activity level: she is active and energetic; I believe she was a hunting dog (arrived with plastic orange hunting collar) and she doesn’t act like a senior dog at all-plenty of energy but curls up and sleeps in house once she’s had her exercise
Fence: preferred otherwise will need to go out on leash every time she goes outside
Training/behavior: Sadie is a very nice little Setter. She has some age-related vision issues which will continue to be a factor as she ages but she has excellent hearing which is a big plus.
Foster comments: Sadie arrived with vet records and her pedigree even. She will probably need her teeth cleaned in the next year which would be expected in a 9 y o dog and has recently had bloodwork, urinalysis, HW and tick tests (all negative)-she is very healthy! Given her small size, great health and the fact that she seems younger than her age most likely means she has many healthy happy years left. She is very loving and beautiful.
Her vision IS poor but it isn’t a factor and she does hear very well. If she didn’t have a whitened face no one would know she was 9.
Adoption fee: $250
Location: Durham NC
