AIDEN ABIN#19- 176 – M, 3 Years
Foster dog name: Aiden (Turkish Rescue)
AB#:INAB#19-176
Gender: Male
Age: 3 Years
Size/Weight: 55lbs
Color: White/Orange
Breed: English Setter
Socialization/training: Has been friendly with all people and dogs he has met. Does not jump up on people. He has just about stopped counter surfing. He would prefer not to, but he will sit before he gets meals, treats and before going out a door. Has never shown any aggression of any kind. Takes treats very gently.
Good with Children: We do not have children but he has been friendly with everyone he has met. No reason to think he wouldn't be good with children too.
Good with Dogs: Yes
Good with Cats: No, he will chase.
House trained: Yes
Crate trained: Yes, goes in easily with a treat. Might whimper at first if he can't see you, but stops quickly and settles in with no problem.
Leash trained: No, he does pull and he is strong. He has shown some improvement on our daily walks, but still needs work.
Activity Level: Moderate. Enjoys his backyard romps and loves his walks.
Fence: Would do best with a 6 foot fence. We have a 4 foot fence and have made great progress to keep him from jumping up on it, but do not leave him out unsupervised. A 6 foot fence would work best.
Behavior: Aiden is a wonderul dog, so sweet and very gentle. Rides well in the car. Loves to be with his people and cuddle. Has slept well every night in his crate with no problems. Since the time he has been with us, we have never heard him bark. He is very quiet. He can get a little pushy for attention and loves to be loved on, and also loves to be brushed. When outside he enjoys running and playing chase and is always on the look out for a stray squirrels. Inside the house he is pretty laid back and will sit for hours looking out the window or just chilling with his people. Aiden would be fine as an only dog or maybe with a buddy. He seems to be more oriented towards people than dogs.. He is an excellent companion dog.
Medical History: UTD on shots, microchipped, neutered and on heartworm and flea and tick preventative.
Aiden originates from Turkey where Leishmaniasis is endemic. He tested negative before coming to the USA, but the parasite can remain dormant in the system for many years, so potential adopters must be willing to commit to annual testing for the next 7 years. Typically, the test needs to be sent to a special lab, but any regular vet can draw blood and send it to the lab. The cost of the test seems to vary widely by area, but is approximately $150.
Foster Comments: Aiden is a beautiful boy with a beautiful disposition. He learns quickly and is very smart and wants to please. He is a happy dog that loves attention. We have found him to be an absolute joy to have in our home and would love to keep him, but feel he would do best with a slightly more active family with a taller fence and a little more room to run.
Adoption Fee:$300.00
Foster Location: Kernersville, NC
