Age - 5 years

Size - 60 lbs.

Color - Black and White

Breed - English Setter

Good with children - Yes. Loves children and is gentle with them.

Good with dogs - Yes. He is curious about new dogs but pretty much ignores them. He is just now learning that playing with other dogs is fun! He plays very gently with my 13 lb. dog and lets her take total advantage of him.

Good with cats - Yes. He just ignores my cat. He will even let my cat eat his food.

House trained - 90%. He does well when I’m home, but when I’m at work all day he wears a belly band. I think he may get anxious when I’m gone all day. I started confining him to the kitchen when I’m at work and is doing much better.

Crate trained - Does not do well in the crate but doesn’t need one. He is not destructive at all in the house.

Leash trained - Walks well on the leash but is still learning. He’s very attentive to the command “Don’t pull” except when he is in a wooded area. Then he’s wants to hunt for birds. He thinks he’s doing his job!

Behavior - Very loving, obedient and wants to please.

Activity Level - Moderate. Hucky has a calm demeanor except when it’s time to run! Everybody who meets him comments on how calm he is.

Fence - Hucky would love a fenced yard. He loves to run like the wind! I have to keep him on a lead because I don’t have a fenced in yard and he’s very patient about it but when I bring him to the dog park or fenced in area, he runs and runs!

Medical History - Neutered. UTD on all shots. On heartworm prevention. Micro chipped.

I have a feeling Hucky spent all five years of his life living in a kennel without much human contact. When i first got him, he knew nothing about living in a house. Didn’t know how to use steps, didn’t know any commands, didn’t even know what a treat was. He didn’t ask for attention.

He went through a short period that he would growl at me if i showed him affection at night. This went on for about 2 weeks and I have never heard him growl once since. He does not have an aggressive bone in his body. This may be the result of a past bad experience.

Chapter Two:

Hucky has become the sweetest happy dog that never stops wagging his tail. He finally knows how sweet love can be. He’s happy to see everybody he meets. Hucky obeys every command I throw at him. Stay, back, up, down, get, in, out and he has just learned to sit! He’s very smart. You can see how happy he is when he knows he has pleased you. He is loving praise and kisses.

He allows you to do anything with him. He loves being brushed. Is fine with nail clipping, ear cleaning. He’ll allow anything. He loves car rides.

He’s not an escape artist. Never tries to bolt and will stay at the door until told okay. My Grandson let him out on Easter. He went a half a block before I realized. When I went after him I called him he came right to me. I can’t stress enough how obedient he is and wants to please.

His mannerisms are adorable! He doesn’t bark much but talks to you with the common Setter ROOOO! When he’s really happy and can’t control himself he jumps straight up all four paws in the air. He’s still learning to play with toys so he throws them and runs and is hysterical when they squeak!

Hucky will be a loving fine family member now that he knows what love is! He aims to please and make his person happy.

Aside from wanting love and affection, a fence is on his wish list. I even think an invisible fence would be okay as he really is a homebody.
