Crate trained:  Unknown, hasn’t needed to be crated in foster home

Leash trained:  Yes, but pulls.  As a former field trials dog, she will probably never heel, but should be able to walk politely on a leash with a little more training.

Activity Level:  Very active; you’d never know this girl was 8 years old 

Fence:  Physical fence required; this girl is active and I don’t know that she would respect an invisible fence if there was “prey” on the other side of it.  She is used to wide ranging exercise, loves to be outside checking out birds, cats, squirrels…..

Behavior:  Pretty independent; but is getting to love being petted.  She lived in a kennel environment the first 8 years of her life.  She will come up to me when I’m at my desk and bump me in the back with her nose so that I will turn and pet her.  Then lays down in the dog bed by the desk and has a nap.

Medical History:   UTD all vaccines, HWP, flea/tick preventative, spayed, microchipped

Foster Comments:  Daisy was surrendered along with her sister Julie, from a breeder in MO. She is an extremely sweet, petite dog.  The vet and I believe she has had a litter of pups, but does not appear to have been used a lot for breeding.  Daisy was a field trials champion when she was younger, you can still read about her on the breeder’s website.  She is still a very active dog, and loves to be outside looking over the deck rail for the outside cats or squirrels or birds, and then barking at them if they move.  She spends a great deal of time in our yard, patrolling, looking, and just running.  She does very well with our resident pack of 7, and she engages in play with the younger dogs.  She lived in a kennel the first 8 years of her life, but is quickly adapting to life in the house.  It is fun to watch the changes in her from when she first came to us, straight from the kennel. Who knew that tile floors could be so scary?  She is a very gentle dog (except she really wants to get those cats!), comes when called, and likes to be petted.  She apparently never had treats before; she gently accepts any new food and then takes if off to sniff it before eating it.  If she likes it, she is quickly back for more!  She probably never had toys before, but she does have one favorite from our bowl of toys that she will occasionally grab and shake and carry around.  She has learned to love dog beds, but still likes to go out and sleep on the love seat on the deck when it is cool enough.  Daisy has been good with my 4 and 7 year old grandkids, but might be afraid of the extra attentions of a younger child.  Other than responding to her name, I haven’t found any other commands that she knows, so that is something that will need to be worked on.

Volunteer transport can be arranged in the Continental US within a 1,000 mile distance between adopters & foster home. Typically, we are able to transport your adopted dog to within 2 hours of your home. *Dogs can be adopted outside the 1000 mile transport distance; however, adopters must be willing to either fly their adopted dog, drive to a location within the 1000 mile transport range, or make independent transport arrangements for their adopted dog. Transports to far West states, from Eastern states, may have additional restrictions.
